Informational book
My daughter needed this book for her survival class. It has been a very useful and informative tool. With information about first aid, building weapons and more.

Good, Broad Summary
This book is intended to address a wide range of "survival" topics and issues, and does a good job in that regard. It is not an intensive, detailed examination of any particular subjects, nor is that its purpose. You can find plenty of other books that will go into extensive discussion on single topics. It is a comprehensive introduction and reference book to many diffierent elements of survival and makes for an interesting read. Good to keep on hand for various potential emergencies, whether it be first aid, tornadoes, or the zombie apocalypse. Although it doesn't discuss zombies, we all know they are the biggest survival issue we're all going to face.

Casual guide with good & fun information
Not the definitive guide on all items, but covers many regional & seasonal situations and provides good insight on how to handle some tough & tricky situations. Good information for all that are interested in arming themselves with good tricks to help keep you alive. Similar to CPR, you never know when you'll need to use this info, but it's best to have it and not need it vs need it and not have it. Fun reading & well received by many in my family.

A Great Practical Help
When I say "practical," I do mean practical, as in how to handle altitude sickness, wade through a swamp, make improvised snow goggles to prevent snow blindness, ride out an avalanche, find food above the treeline, stay safe in a riot in a city, call for help during a pirate attack, etc. In other words, this is not simply an outdoor survival guide, but survival - period. Ideally, one would not find oneself needing most of these guidelines, but it is nice to have the information just in case. Ignorance is not bliss; knowledge is power - - or, in this case, knowledge is the difference between survival and death or injury. Great guide, and well worth every penny!

The child reads it a lot.
Our 10 year old son is really into how-to stuff right now. We bought him this book, along with a couple others on survivalism. He's very happy with it and chooses to read it in his spare time. In fact, we bought it for him as a Thanksgiving present and we had to ask him to set it aside so we could finish giving him the rest of his gifts - he was immediately drawn to it.

Ok for begginers... I was hoping for more content.
Its an OK book. I think it was geared towards "Survival Beginners" because of the shortness of each topic. Nicely made, great pictures, easy to read. I was hoping for a little more content but its good for anyone who is just starting to learn survival and prepping. Still has a few tips for us more advanced folks... if you don't mind spending the money.

Great Book for this noob
I'm a newbie hiker and adventurer and this book really opened my eyes to more than just nature.I think this is a great reference book for anyone who wants to learn some basic survival skills that will carry you everywhere. Assemble a survival kit, how to start a fire, survive in a swamp, or how to craft a raft. This book is beautifully illustrated and to the point. If you are a noob like me, buy this book! You won't regret it.

Good starter book
I got this because I recently got into prepping, This book covers so much, here is how, they give a brief overview about 2-4 paragraphs on each topic or tip. 2-3 topics or tips per page with illustrations. Good over view, but if you want a very comprehensive or in depth "Hot to" on specific survival techniques I would do further reading on those specific topics you want to know. super easy read, I got through it in about 1.5 days.
