Works really well, also on grey hair, if you know how to do it.
Khadi Henna dark brown is great and gives you really nice dark hair naturally, if you know how to do it right. For a start, if you want to cover grey hair, you have to prep your hair with a layer of red standard henna first. Then wait at least a day and then use the Khadi dark brown. Dark brown Henna contains Indigo. It has to be used differently than red henna. Red henna needs hot water to work, but henna that's mixed with indigo needs luke warm water, otherwise it does not work as the Indigo can't cope with heat. Stir small amounts of luke warm water, into the Khadi powder until it has the consistency of potato mash. Put it on your hair, make sure to build a helmet of henna. I usually put a good amount on top and press it through to the scalp, then I put more on the sides, then I do the lengths and cover them and flip them up over my head before I put the rest of the mass on top of everything. Then I put a bin bag over my head and fixate it with a hair band and on top of that I put the hat that's in the package. Make sure to have an old wash cloth to hand, as you have to remove all the henna from your skin before it stains too much. I leave it on my hair for 120 mins, sometimes 150. I recommend to wash it off while taking a shower, simply because it's much less messy. This is a nature product, it contains bits of plants. Yes it's messier than chemical dye, but so much better for your body. And the results are great, even on grey hair. I use it for my eyebrows too, but make sure they are covered with the bin bag too while it develops. Picture shows them freshly dyed.

Okay, bear with me. This review is a long one. But, if I can help someone else who is suffering from allergies, I will. I spent countless hours reading reviews and forums and would have loved to have had someone give me a full and intricate review when I was struggling to find the right color line. I am an ex hairdresser who had to quit their job from a severe allergy to hair color that progressed over time. What started as a tingle, progressed to rashes, hives, oozing sores and escalated to hair loss. I went to countless doctors and specialist in which none could give me any info on what ingredients were causing the allergy. I’m in my mid 30s and have greys and wanted nothing more than a solution for covering greys. I had tried EVERY hair color under the sun. From drug store to professional products to henna. Luckily, having a license I was able to try hair colors that the general public does not have access to. No matter what I tried, the allergy would show up and progress over 2-3 weeks. Worsening as the days went by. By the time the allergy subsided, it was time to dye my roots again. The amount of suffering I was going through to cover greys was unimaginable. The people closest to me told me give up. But, coming from a beauty background, I just wanted a solution and to rid myself of the greys. I couldn’t handle the fact that not only did my career have to change, but my beauty standards are impacted too. This was the final and last option. I reluctantly ordered it assuming that it would be like henna and hurt me just like standard hair colors did. I followed the directions to the T and waited. No bad reaction, nothing. Now, is it perfect coverage? no. Is it easy to apply? Not at all. It’s a damn process. But, it’s a solution for people like me. So, do I recommend it? Absolutely, and I am so blessed I found it. Here are the items I find VERY important: 1. You must clarify your hair first and dry it all the way before application. You must use distilled water and keep the solution warm through all of the application. I use a small glass bowl to hold the hair color within a larger bowl filled with hot water to keep the color warm. 2. I remix a new batch of color for every quadrant of my head. I will do 1/4 of my head, and remix a new batch as I go along. To ensure potency. 3. It says to leave it on for a 1.5 hours (I believe), but I leave it on for 4-5 with a cap. 4. I really cake it onto the stubborn parts and take very very fine sections when applying. 5. When I rinse it, I do not use shampoo. I rinse it till water is clear and then blow dry as normal. 6. It continues to develop as the days progress, so I will finally wash with shampoo 3 days later. I have dark espresso brown hair naturally. I use the “dark brown”. It stains the greys to a medium brown, and gives you dimension. It is not a flat color. So, iT IS A DAMN PAIN to color my hair and it took a lot of experimenting with this color to get the right system and the most coverage. I hate it. But, I am also so thankful I have the option again. Not only is it all natural, it is a solution to those with severe sensitivities. I 1000% recommend.

This is my favourite hair color. It works very well, gives intense color and a beautiful natural shine. My hair feels thicker and much stronger after using it.

If used regularly, like once a month it starts building up and make your hair more and more blond ( and straight which is good too ). Plus it is very natural and healthy.
