Convenient
Worked like it should. I got this unit in an attempt to solve a fizz issue I was hearing while tracking instruments in my studio. I thought that perhaps the RC filter this provides would help. It did not help my specific situation. But I do enjoy having the convenience of having this unit mounted into my rack.

Furman over-delivers on value for a (criminally) low price
Very cool, it's rare you find something that legitimately over-delivers on value at a (almost criminally) low price. Immediately I tested with my available array of analog & digital IO. Most notably my Nord(s) & the Sub37 over DI take the cake in a raw ear-test. DI for bass & guitar sound better but generally not my go-to instruments anyway. An electric Kalimba (yes, and electric Kalimba) manages to _deliver_ on DI when powered by the Furman, very cool Furman, very cool. Perhaps I'm failing to be unbiased; I mean, aren't all product owners? A brief couple minutes looking with moderately analytical eye & both analog and digital spectrograms show an evened frequency response with increased dynamic range most notably < 350Hz & > 16Khz. Having heard my fair share of poorly & artificially inflated equipment I can not make any such resemblance to the end-result that the Furman supports your equipment in providing An old friend happened to have sessions from what may as well be another life-time at this point, a joint collaboration with a fairly well known Soprano that delivers clarity and power in her upper register recorded on a Neumann M269 in a studio was once known for it's contributions to the early star-wars & most bridges films. Hours upon hours of raw comps supplied upon request and a glorious hour of relisting to nostalgia invoking clarity, thanks again Furman, very cool. I wish I bought this sooner. Now I just need (starts counting...) 10 more of these for my server-room.

Mandatory for where I live
I live in central Florida where frequent thunderstorms and power issues can quickly destroy unprotected electronic gear. After one of my powered microphone mixers went up in smoke I decided that when I replaced it I was going to protect it and the other audio and amplification gear I have accumulated. This is the solution I chose. Does it work? Before purchasing a pair of these I lost not only a powered mixer, but some consumer electronics and even a microwave oven! Since adding these (and some other conditioners that are not rackmounted, but had the same basic specs), I have not experienced any electronic equipment loses. Coincidence? Perhaps, but I researched Furman and a few other companies before buying and Furman came out top rated. The bottom line is I have confidence in them. The receptacle spacing on the back is well designed to take both wall warts and plugs. I would never fully populate the receptacles because I do not want to tax any single power outlet. If I were to add another of these to any rack I would make sure I split my power sources between two different circuits. That is just me being cautious. I have also never used the front receptacle on these racks - except to quickly test a piece of gear - because I prefer to have minimum cabling (power or signal) plugged into the front of my racks. Keep in mind that the depth of these are shallow, so if you were to place deeper rack mounted gear like power amps on the top and bottom you may have a difficult time plugging or unplugging cords and wall warts. I am one hundred percent satisfied with the units I own, and will purchase more as time passes. It is a well designed and made product that does its job.

The box was soaked. It was a refurb. Still flawless.
The box was soaked when I received it. It was a refurbished, and through a 3rd party seller, not Furman directly. Half price for the refurbished. IT looked like the box was never opened, just got wet and they sold it cheap. Works like a champ. I use 1.for my gaming PC and peripherals, 1 for my work PC and peripherals, and 1 for my guitar and bass amps. Same model. The oldest one is over 10 years old with 0 issues. This let'se.have power for everything on top of my desk with 1 switch but looks way better than a standard power strip. Also much sturdier than any power strip with better plug spacing and protection.

Furman M-8X2 - great basic and simple unit.
First I want to address some of the other reviews. I am not sure if they are for the Furman M-8X2 or it is a review of another Furman power supply/conditioner and they are lumped together. So what I am going to say is for the Furman M-8X2. It does NOT fix any sort of ground loop issues where there is buzz present within the grid. Example:I can plug my head/amp directly into the wall outlet and than compare - buzz wise it is the same. Of note here - single coil vs humbucker does not matter if the underlining buzz is the same. At least one review here said it eliminates things such as "pops" when light switches are turned on and off. I decided to test this and turned lights on and off that were on a different circuit - no popping. But when I did it with a light on the same circuit it did pop. This will prevent the little surges that might come though the system, but it does not fully eliminate "pops". Now that sounds negative, but it is not meant to be. I would not want someone to get this thinking it will clean up all the underlying buzzing and pops because it won't. This is not a hum eliminator, or a ground loop solver. This is for power, the source. What comes after involves something else. Keep in mind that a lot of factors come into play - a cable from an instrument can act as an antenna for example, and that will have nothing to do with any power supply or power conditioner. If you can take your cable and move it over another power source and pick up a buzz - the unit will not solve that. Also single coil pups, which already have buzz, in front of lights and other powered items - chances are there will be a LOT of buzz. If you have a non-shielded guitar cavity, or use non-shielded cables the buzz will vary - and, again, nothing to do with the power supply or power conditioner. What does the Furman M-8X2 do? It is a power conditioner and it works well. It will "clean" the incoming power and try to keep a constant outflow to whatever is plugged into it. In the case of a severe surge this will try to prevent that from getting though. As others have pointed out the built in fuse will trip and the power will shut down before damage occurs. (NOTE: I have not had this tested out and hope to never have too, but I trust in Furman that my gear will in fact be protected in case of sudden surges.) The Furman M-8X2 is a basic unit in that you simply plug into a standard wall outlet, plug things into it and turn on the units power. Basic and simple. Furman does make more advanced units with individual outlet switches, lights and power input/output readings as some of the advanced perks. If you want something like that check out the PL-PRO series, and I, personally, feel if one is bringing a rig to a lot of different venues you should get one of those anyway. But for basic home use I don't feel you can beat this for the price.

Affordable power conditioner
Man...this thing was a lifesaver for me as far as protecting my expensive gear. Not because I had a power outage or anything but more so because my older, MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE power conditioner....crapped out on me. Not saying that one was not a good one, because it lasted me a very long time. I just didn't see it necessary to spend THAT much on one when this AFFORDABLE Furman power conditioner is very good. It has enough outlets to protect everything I need plus some extra ones for random desk lamps etc. I loved this thing so much that I bought another one just the other day to protect my new QLED TV, sound bar, router, modem and Playstation. Another thing I absolutely love about this is that it is compact. I found a 1U rack mount (also amazing and also affordable) to which allows me to install this literally anywhere without taking up a lot of space. First one I mounted under my work desk and the 2nd, I mounted on the wall behind my TV. Just a fantastic piece of equipment. I highly recommend this product.
