Worked great for Subaru Forrester
After finding out how difficult and costly having a hitch installed on my Subaru Forrester would be, I desperately began looking for ANY alternative and found RoofPax. I was skeptical and expected the worst, especially since it was only around 100 bucks. I also was a bit terrified hauling so much stuff on the roof of my car for a 3 day highway move from Chicago to the West Coast with hooks mounted to the frame...it gave me a recurring nightmare involving my stuff littered over a mile span of highway and the deaths of innocent drivers unlucky enough to be driving behind me. I am happy to report that none of that came to fruition. The product worked like a dream. It held 2 medium sized duffel bags, 2 medium suitcases, and a large suitcase (this was the large size RoofPax). WARNING: Please be sure that you have a vehicle that allows you to use the hooks prior to purchasing- watch the video! I was also able to cram winter coats in-between the bags (oh, Chicago, how I will miss your sub-zero temps!). You really cannot beat the price, efficiency, and durability of the RoofPax. After 3 days, it remained tightly fastened and did not even require re-securing. Only negative was that it was not fully water-proof, more water-resistant. After some snow and 2 days of rain, some moisture did get through. However, most of the material was in suitcases, so everything remained dry. I will take it as a big win, as this was by far the cheapest and best option I had. A very enthusiastic "two thumbs up" for RoofPax.

Read for honest feedback
I bought this bag months ago, but finally recently used it. I have been through several types of bags over my years of needing a rooftop cargo bag. This bag has had a lot of thought and quality go into it. The bag holds A LOT! I got the 28cu ft. I love the 3 bag option but only used 1 of the bags on this recent trip, and used the remaining free space for larger items. I love that the bag can be opened all the way so I can be sure to use the bag to full potential if needed. The zipper closes easily, and seems well made for a lot of use. I recently threw away two other bags after other small trips due to breaking zippers. Next, I love the velcro on the straps to limit how tight I need to tie down the straps. We drove well over 70mph for 2 hours both ways and a strap never needed adjusting. The bag is waterproof, and not made out of rigid waterproof material that is hard to handle. My only minor complaint is the bags made for use inside of the bag can not be carried by the straps if the bag is heavy. We had maybe 15 lbs worth of items and the handle started to tear off the bag. Once we noticed that, it changed how we handled the bag, but it is still usable. I will update this post after my next trips in a few weeks if there is anything to add or that may change this review, but I do not see that happening.

Awesome product
I love this bag so much I need to shorten my review! Me: 5' 4", 60 year old disabled female who travels between Tucson and Detroit every summer. I bought a new RAV4 hybrid and didn't want to damage my car with putting anything directly on the roof with a sunroof so I also ordered a luggage rack along with the Roof Pax bag. I already had factory installed roof rails so I didn't need to buy those. Both arrived quickly and without damage and no missing parts. Very easy install for both items. I opened the bag and did a trial run for packing it on my living room floor. This helped me a great deal for time. I installed both items myself very easy. I am short, so I needed a ladder to haul everything up and overhead. There's the time consuming thing. Moving the ladder around the car to load and tie down by yourself takes time. Get some help and it'll go much faster. My neighbor helped me unload when I arrived in Michigan and only took 10 minutes to unload. Now, the review. PROS: Everything! They left no stone unturned. The bag looked and felt substantial. The outer layer felt like it would hold up under my driving conditions and I was impressed right out of the box. The inner layer has some kind of rubberized coating for waterproofing. The zipper is concealed under a flap that has velco to hold it down. It came with a small lock so you can lock lock the 2 zippers together for security. It has straps all the way around to tie it down to your car. The straps have a velco piece attached at the end so you can secure the loose ends so they don't flap in the breeze. It came inside a storage bag with clips if you want to attach this bag through your windows without using a roof rack. The only CON to this so far is, how am I ever going to fold this thing back down into a storage bag? I haven't tried it yet but it doesn't matter as I have a garage. My testing of the bag: This bag took 3 days of driving in over 100 degree temps and a about 30 minutes of rain in Missouri. I drove the speed limit sometimes. Usually I'm the 10 mph over the speed limit driver on the freeway. I was pretty much 75-80 mph fully loaded with this bag though. I arrived without incident to the bag in Michigan in time for father's day. No visible damage to the bag, or to the car. My neighbor helped my unload and take the bag off in 10 minutes. No water made it through the bag and all my items were no worse for the wear. I'll return to Tucson in October. If something goes awry, I'll update this review. Here's my advice. Read other people's reviews and see what may have went wrong. Most negative comments about about roof bags of any make came from people tying these things down to their windows and having the bags rest ON THE ROOF. High winds and drag on these bags tells me they won't hold up to this abuse. Even with the bag loaded properly as per Roof Pax instruction, the drag on the luggage kills gas mileage. The RAV4 hybrid gets about 45mpg unloaded. Not on this trip I assure you. Load the roof bag so you have no hard pieces of suitcases like wheels facing the sides and front of the bag where winds at these speeds will damage anything. I don't advise any bag directly on the roof unless it's an emergency move on a short trip. As much as I spent for my car, I wanted NO damage to it. Use a luggage rack and secure the straps to that instead of your windows. I worried about the plastic clips on the straps holding up, but they did just fine. The Roof Pax is a 5 star, 2 thumbs up from me. I recommend this item under the conditions I stated. I would buy this again.

Good product, great customer service
We bought this product after the birth of our first child so that we could haul all of the new stuff we needed to while keeping the back of our '16 Nissan Pathdinder open for our 110 lb dog. I will start with what we like: Pros: -Size. We could not believe how much stuff we were able to fit into it! All of our luggage, dog food, high chair, pack n play and more -ease of use. After following the instructions the first time to make sure it was loaded properly, I no longer needed them. Very easy to install on the roof each time -packability. We did not go with a large hard line roof pack because we do not have a lot of room to store it when not in use. This product comes with a small duffel bag and, although tight to fit back into it, is very small and doesnt take up much room. -secure. If you properly cinch down all the straps it stays in place very well even at high speeds. -customer service is top notch (see why in cons) Cons: -defective first pack. Our first pack lasted about 10 months of pretty frequent use before developing a rip in one of the corners. We found customer service to be WELL above what seems to be the average for most companies these days. They sent us a new roof pack in no time flat and even followed up after to make sure we were happy. -questionable water proofing. This may have been due to the defect I mentioned but my wife used in in the rain one time and the bags inside got pretty soaked. This may have been user error but we have not had to travel with it in the rain since then so I can only speak to that one time. Hoping it was only the defect. Overall we are extremely happy with this product and have been recommending it to our friends with newborns!

Quality, quality, quality
Great, great, great bag. The quality is worth the extra price. That the gripper is built-in is awesome. My only two complaints, but this applies to all roof bag manufacturers I have looked at or used, are that 1) roof bags would greatly benefit from dedicated bottom straps to secure the bag to the roof to make loading easier, esp. in stronger winds, and 2) storage bags require perfect folding to fit the roof bag. RoofPax is at least a heavier bag to stay on the roof in lighter winds, and its storage bag is roomier than most, especially if you do not use the three internal bags, which are a very nice, useful touch to partition your load.

Absolutely worth every penny!
This is a solid piece of kit. Performs beyond my expectations. Very solidly built, thick canvas. Strong straps that work perfectly with the luggage rack on our 2011 Tahoe. Zipper is sturdy and protected under overhanging flap that secures on three sides via velcro tab. Top flap seals on three sides with fourth integrated with main body of bag. We were able to easily fit 2 large suitcases, 2 carryon sized cases, 2 small/medium duffle bags, 2 suit bags folded in half and still had a bit of room leftover. Straps emanate from all four sides of the bag and are equipped with 3 prong locking clasps. Straps can be tightened by pulling thru clasps and once done hold the bag and contents very securely to roof of vehicle. If u dont have a luggage rack, the bag comes with clasps that fit and feed under rubber door seals. We traveled from central Illinois to Beaufort, SC, from plains thru foothills and into Smoky Mountains then down into Carolina lowlands and eventually to coast. Tho not deluged, it did rain intermittently throughout trip and all our items stayed dry and secure. We were able to bring a thin foldup step ladder with us, tucked in the very back of the truck at the hatch and this made removal and installation of the bag and contents much easier than had we not, given the height of the vehicle combined with additional height of loaded bag. This was especially helpful given that we broke the trip into 2 segments south and 2 northward and therefore needed to remove and reinstall the bag and contents at each stop. Anyway, I highly recommend this thing. Should something fail, I will report that. I do know that eventually, if used frequently, retreating with waterproofing would likely be necessary. But man, I'm super impressed so far.

TWO CARS, DOWNPOUR, 1000 MILES, AWESOME!!
OVERALL: We got two of these. One for the Honda CR-V, and one for the Toyota Corolla.... we used the included loops inserted into the door frames, and MOVED OVER 1000 MILES AWAY (in the sun, rain, sleet, and some snow) with all of our left over gear.... AND IT WAS AMAZING!! Read on... **Seriously, as long as you ratchet the carriers down tight to the tops of your vehicles, and velcro up your straps (everything is INCLUDED), you'll be good to go.** NOISE: was minimal to not at all. Once when we stopped I had to re-velcro one of the straps that was flapping a bit, but that was it. Seriously, I am very happy with both carriers. And they are both dried, folded, and stored for anyone else in the family who might need them. WATER RESISTANCE: These are water RESISTANT, not water PROOF, so while they do a super great job in keeping things MOSTLY DRY, if you're going through as much water as we did, some water is bound to get in. Not a ton, but a little.... so.... plan for that. Seal your contents inside tightly closed garbage, or contractor sized bags like we did. Problem solved.......This should be obvious anyway. **YOU'RE NOT ABOUT TO BUY SOME JAMES BOND LEVEL, TOTALLY SUBMERSIBLE UNDER WATER GEAR FOR THIS LITTLE PRICE TAG.** ...Wake up to those who didn't seal their stuff in bags, whinging about a little wetness! But rest assured, unless you're in a torrential down pour like we were, your stuff will stay DRY. TAKE AWAY: These are thick, durable, water resistant, rugged, and reusable (if you use them right). We don't have storage racks on top of either of our vehicles so these were seriously an answer to prayer. After the cross country moving trailer hauled most of our things away, we needed to stay behind with some left over gear to wrap things up. You'd be surprised how that little bit of stuff adds up!! There was no way it was all fitting in both cars, so instead of renting a trailer (we have no towing hitch/package on our cars), or renting an entire UHAUL to tow our left-over stuff and one of our cars, we got these. THESE WERE SO MUCH WISER OF AN INVESTMENT. And we get to keep them for next time we or someone else needs them. I would buy them again for sure. Best of luck to you.
