Good and safe
Used it to replace my BMW f30 struts. I didn't like the idea of using 2 skinny clamps to hold the force from a compressed spring. Good quality, easy to compress with a power gun, and it fit the spring, you just have to find the right side. But once is compressed nothing can go wrong. It might be a little expensive but is a good investment and safer than others.

Worked great, worth the extra money.
Worked an absolute charm on changing some bmw 435d front shocks and springs on a driveway. Wasnât easy but got it done and all in saved ÂŁ1300. Feel safer than the claw type which I also own.

Great coil spring compressor tool.
This tool is a life saver. Replacing offside front strut and spring, spring broken. Managed to remove the broken spring with the Hilka compression tool I had used before on my wife's Mini, however, it was impossible to fit the new spring using that tool. The spring is tapered so whichever way I tried the top mount or strut was in the way, then one of the compressors came off violently. This tool is brilliant, caters for tapered springs, gives adequate space, just one screw to deal with to compress evenly and new spring fitted in minutes. It's a bit expensive, but you get what you pay for. The Hilkas have gone for recycling.

Good heavy duty spring compressor
Very good heavy duty spring compressor but the yellow plastic protectors come off far too easily when sliding the clamps over the spring.

Poor Quality Tool.
Necessary edit and great disappointment, on first use (as shown below) I was very impressed by this tool, however I then used it on a VW Golf to replace a snapped spring and ran into all manner of problems due to the threaded rod being made from soft/poor quality steel. Having compressed the new spring and fitted it to the strut, I then couldnât unwind the spring compressor as the threaded rod had stripped causing the tool to seize solid. I was almost at the point of taking an angle grinder to the tool in order to release the compressed spring but with the use of a long breaker bar and scaffold pole I finally managed to turn the threaded rod to release the spring. The tool is now unusable and junk, photo shows the stripped thread. Long story short, a poor quality tool that put me in a very tricky situation so no I wouldnât recommend this tool, as always buy cheap buy twice! I bought this to change the strut gaiters on my 2013 BMW 535, wow I really couldnât believe the difference in removing suspension strings using this tool rather than the traditional spring compressors that Iâd used previously for many years. This tool turned a job that I dread and holds many fears and concerns into a far safer and relatively pleasant task, well worth the expenditure, highly recommended

Not very functional
Not impressed it slips off the plastic guards when under pressure and sometimes flips off.

Used it today to disassemble a couple of struts with conical springs. I found it quite easy to mount the tool and the extension for conical springs worked just fine. The tensioner moves easily and initial adjustment can be done using just your fingertips. Tensioning was equally easy using a ratchet spanner. Contrary to the item description the manual says the tool can be used with power tools, which I also tried carefully with an air gun. Only negative is that the plastic parts fell off a few times and that there is no hex key for tightening the screws in the package. Overall I am very satisfied.
