Good Oil Paints at a Reasonable Price
I generally use Lukas Berlin water-mixable oil paints but am alway game to try different brands. While these paints aren't sheer, they do provide good color saturation. The box comes with a decent variety of colors. I do find these paints a little stiff so have added linseed oil to loosen the flow. I'd recommend this brand if an artist is at the beginning of their painting journey or needs to save a little money. Water-mixable oil paints are an absolute joy when it comes to clean-up. Just drop a glob of dishwashing soap on a clean paper towel and gently rub the brush bristles into the soap, then rinse until the water runs clear. No need to use turpentine for clean-up, which saves money and wear and tear on the painter's lungs.

GREAT QUALITY! Would love to see bigger tubes eventually!
Water mixable oils have come a LONG way since I first started using them over 25 years ago. Back then, I was not pleased with the fact that I couldn't get rich darks like I could with regular oils. Acrylics just dried way too fast to create the layers I wanted to use in my paintings. Now being a mom of four and needing to paint indoors and not in the studio setting I was used to (i.e. good cross ventilation when using regular oils but inside a home) I decided to try these again after getting frustrated with acrylics. I have not been disappointed. These work just like regular oils, without the turpentine, and they have a good drying time for me, not five minutes later like acrylics, and I am producing nice DARK colors to create the light and shade effects .For those who like the layering and translucent effects of painting with oils, these will work, without the need to have cross ventilation, although an open window would be needed if the smell of oil paint is unpleasant for you. Over all, very pleased. Along with a cup of water to quickly wash brushes before changing colors, I have a smaller cup filled with a bit of dish soap to extra clean the brush and it works wonderful. I then dip it back into the water cup, and voila! NO MORE TURPS! Happy Painting!

Very Creamy and Easy to Use.
Love this set! Very creamy. Mixes well with water, or used straight from the tube.

Takes a while to get used to.
Years ago I painted in oils then switched to acrylics. I loved the smoothness of oils, but cleanup and drying times were negative factors. I tried these water mixable oils and really don't care for them. When dry they lack the sheen and color intensity I was looking for, even after adding medium. The only positive was the extended working time. I'm going back to acrylics, where I feel I have more control over layering and getting the sheen I want with mediums.

blue is not "water mixable"
Other colors seem to be fine but blue(french ultramarine) is impossible to mix with water and won't paint evenly, resulting in uneven wash and painting. As blue is one of the primary colors and what I use the most, it was disappointing, especially because I bought these after watching youtube videos that showed blue working fine. I had to get linseed oil(water mixable, another $10) for it to work since I really needed to finish the painting in a short time. Also blue gets into (absorbed) the brush and hard to get it out to canvas or wash it off. I had a chance to use different & more popular brand and the quality is really different. It is very smooth and water really is the only thing I needed. I recommend investing a bit more and getting better paints. It really sucks that date to return passed.

Good paint
The reason I gave three stars is because of slow shipping other than that the paint is pretty good however the white is too creamy for landscape painting.

I have some experience painting, but none with oils. I didn't want to pursue traditional oils due to the toxicity of the paint thinners and mediums, and difficulty washing paint out of brushes, and I thought the water mixable oil could alleviate some of these problems. I think these paints are great, colour selection is good, it includes a warm and cool primary triad, with a few secondaries and browns. The set does lack a black paint but you can just mix a black. I would advise picking up another tube of white because it goes obscenely fast, but this would happen with any brand. The colours mix very well together and blend easily. I was worried the paint being watermixable might give it a faster drying time, this doesn't appear to be the case at all, They have stayed very wet for the first two days, and still decently mixable for another day or so. I also don't work particularly thick with the paint, and haven't been trying particularly to keep it wet, so if you wanted to you could probably keep it wet for longer. The only problem is the smell, I don't find it particularly bad and once I get into a painting I just forget about the smell, but it is a noticable stank. It's a really minor problem, which the average person could definitely just ignore, but if you're sensitive to smells these may not be a great choice. I haven't used any other oil paints, so I can't compare the performance to other brands but I find these paints amazing, absolutely worth the money.

I do not like these. They dry fasterxthan acrylics and have a chalky residue when dry.

The paints arrived dried out leaving me to wonder how old they are. Disappointed.
