To me this is the best swim cap because it removes the hair pulling and seemingly never drying aspects of the silicone swim caps. This swim cap is so comfortable that I usually forget that I am wearing one after an hour in the lap pool. This is also the only swim cap that I have found that stays in place lap after lap without need for readjustment as the silicon version always road up after launch. The material is soft and very easy to put and take off. If. you wet your hair completely before putting on the swim cap I have found that chlorine "green hair" it not a problem. I am working on replacing all my silicone swim caps with these.

Speedo and TYR are two of the few brands that still make nylon-Lycra swim caps that fit larger heads (over 7 5/8”), are slip resistant, and do not cover the ears. This design is not intended to keep hair dry. Instead, it keeps hair in place and out of your eyes. I like this cap because it gives excellent sun protection for a thinning scalp. I use it snorkeling, scuba diving, and casual swimming. It fits securely for those activities. It functions great for snorkeling and scuba diving because it doesn’t interfere with a mask or snorkel. Another bonus is that the cap keeps hair from getting tangled in the mask strap or snorkel connector. The fabric has held up well in strong sun, salt water, and after many washings. For anyone who needs a comfortable, ear-free swim cap with real UV coverage with value for the money, I highly recommend this cap.

This cap is great if you aren’t a fan of the silicone ones, which I’m not. Doesn’t pull hair, will last a long time!

This cap works well if you're looking for a casual option that won't completely rip at your hair as rubber or silicone performance or sport caps often do. I have a lot(!) of hair and a large hat size, and stretches to fit well. The Lycra does completely let in water, so it's best to rinse hair with fresh water before getting into the pool, perhaps adding a leave-in conditioner before if you're concerned about damage. Would not be a great option for those who compete or are looking to decrease drag. Remember to rinse after use and do not put in dryer to get the most out of the fabric!

BUYER BEWARE this is not the tyr lycra Adult Cap i purchased a year ago. it came with 2 caps not one. This is for a child size head. i guess they wan't to save 25 cents on fabric or something. So instead of two caps you now get one for the same amount and it is too small for an adult head.

I really like the Lycra style caps and was so glad to find this one. I find the regular silicone (traditional or plastic) caps creep up my head as I swim so I have to stop my swim to yank my cap back down. I find that the Lycra style doesn’t ride up with wear and it doesn’t squeeze my ears against my head (if you have higher piercings you know what I mean). It’s not a matter of I don’t want to pause for a few seconds, my cap creeping up and yanking it back down can mess with my goggle seal. If you’re a swimmer you know that you put your goggles on and then you leave them alone, if you start to try to adjust them during a swim their seal with your skin will be broken and your goggles will leak. As for your hair under the cap, you should always wet your hair before you get into the pool because your hair is going to soak in the first water it meets, so you should wet your hair with tap water so it doesn’t absorb chlorinated water. No swim cap will keep your hair dry except those vintage ones from the 1950s with the chin strap, and since you should be wetting your hair anyway, why not wear the most comfortable swim cap. That’s why I like the Lycra caps, I think they’re 100% more comfortable than the silicone kind. You will still need to rinse your swim cap, but unlike a silicone cap, you don’t need to powder your Lycra cap after each wearing. Swim caps aren’t for keeping your hair dry while you swim, they are for keeping your hair out of your face and blocking your vision while you swim. The silicone style caps work by squeezing your head to stay in place, that is why they tend to creep up or simply pop off while you’re swimming. The Lycra style swim caps sit on your head and perform their function without relying on squeezing your head, that’s why many people find them more comfortable. And because they don’t squeeze your head any piercings in your ears won’t become weapons stabbing your head, they will simply be what they are, piercings.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: TYR is a reputable brand, the product was reasonably priced. Hair hold: It holds hair pretty well but I have short hair so didn't really test it. It fits very tightly around your head even with my short hair. Durability: Poor durability is the main reason why I give it only 3 stars. It lasted about 4 months and then the elastic fibers started breaking. Other swim caps usually last me about 9-12 months with regular 3 swims per week. Thickness: Very thin, very comfortable. Coverage: Covers the whole head if you have short hair. If you have long hair, you'll struggle fitting it in.
