Q: does it leave any crack when shut, through which roaches could come in?

No cracks and there are even magnets in the door to make sure it stays shut. The magnets are pretty powerful too. So much that my cat could barely get through and I had to demagnetize the door so she could use it. No roaches can get in unless they're like HULK roaches. And if that's the case you may have another problem on your hands.

Q: the bottom half of my screen door is thin aluminum, would this work for it as well?

I also have an aluminum panel in the lower part of the screen and have used this car door. I cut a piece out to the same size as the inside of the door frame. Drill the frame holes in the aluminum and without taking the cat door apart, use SS bolts thru the frame and secure it on the outside of the aluminum door panel with cap nuts. The bolts must be shortened if the cap nuts do not tighten against the panel. I never had a problem with the door after installation.

Q: Does it come with a lock? In case you want to keep your pet outside for some reason?

If your cat wants in, it will just claw the screen and tear it open and come on in. Screen in door isn't very strong.

Q: It that fit for a median dog, weight about 30 lb?

I think 30 pounds is too big. I use it for two cats. One cat weighs 7-8 pounds and the other cat weighs 5 pounds and it is perfect for them. You would need a much larger door. You have to use reinforcement bars to make it sturdy especially with a dog. A bit over priced. So far it works as planned.

Got the large one for our Cavalier. Can’t imagine the small would have worked. I didn’t have the option to take down the door screen to install it so fixed it while it’s in place. Was easy and took few minutes. I put it, cut the door screen inside, removed it and folded the edges of the screen then put it again and it works fine so far.

This was delivered two days ago and I’m finding that it was just what I needed for a puppy who loves to go in and out all day long. By day two, he was a pro! Install was quick and easy and it appears to be durable enough for our needs. I would recommend.

Needed something like this for the cats and it works perfectly. Installation was dead simple. Now I can let the cats in or out of my room through the window. Didn't want to permanently cut a hole in my door so this was a very good reversible alternative. Does seem kinda flimsy but so long as the cats use itproperly I don't see it breaking anytime soon
