Great thermometer with accurate readings. Used for monitoring my sick kids.

Accurate. Reads on first trigger. Can be set to not beep (like for sleeping kids). Color backlight varies with temperature. Includes batteries, easy to change (not yet replaced).I like it enough that I bought a second one to leave at work, so I wouldn't be frustrated by the one there.Note that like all IR thermometers, it will not be accurate if the subject has been at a different ambient temperature than the thermometer (eg, coming inside from a hot car). It also will not read accurately if the subject has a sweaty forehead.

As a parent of two young kids, it baffles me how difficult it has been to find an accurate thermometer. I’ve tried so many different (highly rated!) brands and many different types. I got this because my pediatrician’s office uses it and the nurse said it seemed to deliver the most consistent results. Thankfully, I’ve found the same to be true for us. Though I still get 3 different results if I take my child’s temperature 3 times in a row, the temperature remains consistent enough that I know whether or not we’re dealing with a fever (whereas others I’ve had will say 99 one minute and then read 103). I’ve only had this a a few months, but so far it’s the most reliable, consistent thermometer I’ve had and remains my go-to when I need an accurate reading.
