Nice speakers !
Although I just installed these speakers in my boat and have been on the lake once since I REALLY am liking them. All ranges seem to be clear and responsive. I can actually hear a thump in the bass which I am sure is not helping my fishing at all but nevertheless they do have some bass. I am running these with a Dual 200W MXDM70 radio with no amp but might consider one later.I put this system in an 1997 Bass Tracker PRO16 aluminum hull boat and was not sure how it would sound with all that metal but they sound great. I was going to buy the cheaper ones (DMS651) but I fi0gured for a few extra dollars these would sound better. I like them !!

Amazing sound for the price using mediocre stereo and no amp. Very sturdy. Cutout was much larger than the old 6.5" speakers... but happy with the look and sound.

Great sound
I Recently bought a 1999 Glacier Bay 2680 that looks like it came with these new. For their age, they held up very well, but the outer ring has rotted out of them, and it was time to replace them. When I got the new ones, I noticed that they were no longer bright white, but have more of a yellow ting to them, which was not too big of a deal. My biggest disappointment in the new version, from the older version is that they have now used a slightly small magnet, and they now don't sound quite as good as the old version of these speakers. But as most products especially electronics, most of them are made in China, and companies are trying to save a little money on each product they are making. Over all, for the price range that they are in, they sound pretty good compared to some of the other marine speakers. One of the main reasons i stuck with these was because I did not want to have to worry about getting one that is a different size, or has different size screw spacing. I also ended up re using the old screw, because the new screws they came with had a slightly smaller diameter, and a much cheap quality to them.

Lasted five seasons, plastic cone disintegrated due to UV.
Well, I came here to to complain about longevity - because one of the cones has basically fallen to pieces - it has cracked and is no longer attached to the surround. Cones are made of plastic, and I don't think they did so well with UV. One the other hand, I snapped these up for a fraction of list price from one of Amazon's alternative vendors. I just checked the purchase date, which was 2009 so I actually got five seasons out of these. They sounded fine through four of those seasons. So while they don't last forever, maybe that's OK. Now I have to decide if I want to pay more for something else that might (or might not) last longer, or just buy a new pair.

Good speaker for the price
I use my sealers on the bridge and I'm the cockpit. Quality of the sound is good. They last me about three years before the elements destroy the cones.

Good sound but not indefinitely weatherproof
This purchase was to replace a pair of Dual DMS652 speakers that I had purchased and installed in March 2009. I went with another pair of DMS652's because they have good sound and to make the installation easier. I would rate 5-stars except for the fact that after 7 years of heat and UV exposure, the polypropylene cone on both speakers had become quite brittle and torn. Otherwise, a good value.
