The Henna Guys 100% Pure and Natural Henna Powder for Hair Dye/Color, 200g

I bought the henna together with Indigo, after reading around that I would need both to achieve the color of my dark brown hair. I primarily needed both to cover my gray, but since this was my first time using Henna, I did an all-over application just to see how it came up. I mixed all 200g gram of them, and with my chin length hair, I had a lot of leftover. Note to self: next time use 1/2 a packet instead. Luckily you can freeze leftover henna in the freezer so I ziplocked the leftover henna mix and stuffed it in the freezer. The good news is, since the leftover is already mixed, I don't have to wait for the dye to release next time. Anyway, so I mixed the henna with fresh squeezed lime juice and water. The lime juice provides the acidity that henna needs to release its dye (so I've read). You can probably use bottle lime juice, I happened to have some limes in the fridge so I used those instead. I made a mistake of making the mix too runny - like a thin yogurt consistency - and didn't realize the mistake until later. After mixing the henna in a bowl, I covered it with saran wrap and left it on my bathroom counter for almost 24 hours to allow the dye to release. When I opened the bowl 24 hrs later, I could see the reddish dye floating around in the surface, which I quickly mixed in. Then I started applying the mix to my hair, starting from the back to the front. You will need gloves and 2 old towels, one to wipe and the other to cover your hair with later. Once my hair was fully covered with henna, I covered it with saran wrap and then put my shower cap on top. Remember what I said about mixing it too runny? This is the part where things go tricky. Originally, I planned to sleep with the henna on my hair overnight, as has been suggested by many people I read online. But, because I mixed it too thinly, the henna dripped like crazy: at first it was dripping every 5 minutes or so, then as time progressed, I literally had to wipe the drips from my hair continuously every 2-3 seconds or so. I didn't dare go near my bed as I didn't want my bedroom to have henna drips all over. Finally, after wiping non-stop for maybe 70 minutes or so, I decided I had enough. I threw away the saran wrap and jumped into the shower to rinse my hair. I rinsed it first with just warm water, then used conditioner to get rid of the gunk and grits. Then the moment of truth, standing in front of a mirror, I could see a hint of beautiful deep red burgundy highlights on my darker hair, but brash orange on my gray hair, right on top where the hair parted. Yikes!! I knew the chance of this happening was kinda big, given that white hair (my gray is definitely white, not gray) absorbs whatever color you put on them much easily than healthy hair. But it was still a shock to see such orange hair on me. Luckily, I anticipated such happening, that's why I bought Indigo together with Henna, and boy am I glad I did, as I needed that Indigo to correct the orange color from henna. Bottom line, if you're Asian with dark hair like me, or simply have a lot of white / gray hair to cover, definitely use Henna AND Indigo, either mix them together as a 1-step application, or separately as a 2-step application. I used mine as a 2-step application because I wanted to see how it came out individually. Next time I'll try the 1-step application for experiment. Henna does not lighten my hair, instead, on my healthy hair with natural dark brown color, it gives a nice deep red burgundy coating that is only visible under sun shine. Very subtle and pretty. Also, now that I know that leaving it on for only 70 minutes or so was enough to let the henna color my hair, I don't know if I would leave it on overnight as many have suggested. I think it'll depend on whether I get the mix right. Next time, I would mix it thicker, like mashed potato rather than yogurt consistency. I mixed my indigo on the thick side and it didn't drip at all. One last thing, I read on another review that her hair kept leaking orange days after rinsing. Mine didn't. I washed it very thoroughly, until the water ran clear, and then some more for good measure. I used my old towel to dry my hair immediately after that, then waited for 48 hours before washing it again. On the first wash after that 48 hours, I used my regular towel and didn't see any color leaking on the bathroom floor or the towel. Henna and Indigo are the only two I'll use to cover my gray from now on.

I have light brown with discrete blond highlights.​ ​Recently determined that the quality of my hair needs to be significantly improved. I never colored my hair for fun- only to cover my grey hair. Started using L'Oreal and Wella in my 40's i.e. the top quality products on the market and only in beauty salons. Thousands of dollars later my hair is now looking brittle and dry and the prognosis as I look at my mother's dull, brittle hair who has done the same is that it's only going to get worse. It's been almost a month since my hairdresser last colored my hair with Majirel by L'Oreal using a formula of half 7.0 and half 7.35. About 6 months ago he added blond highlights using Alfapar but that has grown out significantly. My hairdresser keeps asking me when are we going to add highlights again but overall I'm finding myself already too blond ​ ​and ends ​look ​brittle, overall​ my​ hair looks dull​​.​ First thought - why not just use chemical coloring that I can buy at any supermarket? It's less expensive, far more convenient than having to sit at the hair salon for hours and the ladies on the boxes look like they've got lovely shiny locks. My neighbor is in her early 40's and looks great after using Revlon ColorSilk 50. Upon further reflection, the reason the simple supermarket bought color works for my neighbor is that she's 40 and the chemicals in the hair color haven't had time to ruin her hair - yet. There's no way the supermarket box of color is going to damage her hair less than the carefully applied top quality stuff they put on my hair at the salon - right? How about Henna? Indian and Persian women have been using henna for centuries with shiny healthy results. ​​Don't want my hair to turn red​.​ Henna is a true commitment as you can really damage your hair if you go back to chemical coloring soon after you've used henna. So I'd better be sure this is going to turn out well - in my mind the stakes are high. I read​ that you can keep adding henna and other plant colors over each other without causing any damage whatsoever. Applied paste to hair, covered with cellophane wrap and warm hat. ​L​eft ​it ​on ​3​ hours​,​ rinsed out with conditioner​. Put some vinegar in cold water for the last rinse. Result: Color turned out VERY dark brown :( I should have perhaps kept it on for only 1 hour as I was applying it to already henna's hair. Quality of hair is lovely. Am able to let hair dry on its own without blower and it stays with a nice curl looking thick. Procedure 3 weeks later Dec 9th Objective: To retouch growth of 1/2" white roots Should have shampooed before - but forgot Applied vaseline around face ears and neck. Used 1/2 packet Henna Maiden LIVELY LIGHT BROWN Hair Color with 1 tsp amla powder for curls and condition adding a few drops of orange essence for more pleasant odor. Reapplied mixture on roots spreading to rest of hair Put cellophane around head topped with shower cap and left on for 1 hour. Rinsed with warm water and lots of conditioner. Final cold water rinse with a bit of vinegar. Result: Roots slightly lighter and reddish when wet. Blew hair dry. Result: Darker brown, less reddish roots and less shine. Blow dry seemed to darken roots immediately. Quality of the hair is much improved in the last month with henna and the natural powders. A bit darker than intended but I'm never going back to a chemical process.

Love this stuff!! I have waist-length dreadlocks and this ALL NATURAL henna not only keeps them conditioned, keeps them a lovely color. This is the only henna I've used for years, and will continue to use for the foreseeable future. Easy to follow preparation instructions for those unfamiliar, superior quality color!

I was scared off my a&& to try a henna powder that hadn't been lab tested, and had no way to back its claim of being free of pesticides, etc. I was scared also because the instructions said mix with tap water, and didn't mention the hours required for dye release. So I thought something might have been added to fakeify this henna that was claiming to be 100% henna. I was afraid too because the negative reviews included many "made my hair fall out" and "bleeds yellow for weeks". I knew that the henna I'd been using did NOT "bleed yellow", and figured no real henna would do that. So despite all the fear, being backed in a corner by my formerly trusty 7 year supplier who priority-shipped my emergency henna FOUR DAYS AFTER I ORDERED IT, (making the delivery time almost a week), made me jump off a cliff and try this henna. My first test was the sniff test. Did it smell like real henna? Well, it smelled slightly different than the henna I'd been using for seven years, but it didn't set off any of my chemical alarms. (I'm highly sensitive). So I plundered forth and mixed it up. I let it sit all day (8 a.m. to midnight), then smelled it again. It just smelled like henna. Slightly different than my usual stuff, but not enough so to not be attributable to being a different crop or variety or whatever. So I went for it. Slathered it on (smoother paste than the other brand I'd been using, which I hadn't thought possible, since that one was 100x smoother than the crap weed I'd been buying that came in boxes complete with twigs, dirt, and probably the occasional exotic animal turd, put my head wraps on, and went to bed. I wondered if I'd wake up with hair, and if I did, would it look any different than before I used this henna that I'd read is often sold "too long" (who knows how long is too long?) after it's been harvested, making it weak. I was tired enough to fall asleep through all this henna anxiety. I woke up today an hour and a half before my alarm, wanting to know what happened to my hair. I took a shower, looked in the mirror, and ....whoa. Exactly what I'd expect to see after henna'ing my hair with a quality henna. My litmus test is orange skin around my temples. If my temples are orange next to my hair, it worked. Well, my skin was orange. I hadn't henna'ed for nothing, and I still have hair!!! And the most remarkable thing is my head doesn't itch. I had thought I had a slight allergy to henna, but I don't seem to be allergic to this one at all. I can't wait to start buying from a supplier who doesn't charge for shipping, can ship the product same day (Amazon), works as well as what I thought was the best brand, and doesn't make my head itch. Wow. I really thought I was buying the best henna on the market. And maybe I was!! But my scalp prefers this one, at least for now. I hope I don't get sensitized to it. And I feel safe knowing I can have it shipped same day if I ever have another emergency. I mean....IT'S HAIR!. Ya gotta take care of your hair. :)
