Wonderful tarp
Set this baby up this weekend. Very high quality tarp. Easily set up into multiple configurations. Havent tried it in the rain yet but, works great for sun and reasonably surprising even as a wind blocker. That surprised me a little. Comes with six stakes for the attached 6 guy wires on the tarp. Pretty slick and rather large as a twelve footer. Definitely some thing to pack that is much smaller even with my home made poles, than an expandable shelter. Those expanding shelters are large, heavy and take up lots of space in my vehicle that I car camp with. This tarp will be a great addition to our hobby of car camping. Wouldn't take this one hiking. Too large in a backpack, and too heavy. But I bet the 9 footer might be pretty good for some hikers that want a versatile tarp to add to their kit.

Seems well built for the price
Update: after using this tarp for over a year, from a trip around the States to doing 1300 miles on the Appalachian Trail this tarp is still performing flawlessly. No holes, no leaks and it's still in great condition. The one thing I can say about it is the Noah 12 is very large for one person in a hammock. The weight is a bit heavy as well. This complaint is subjective and honestly it's my fault. I love this tarp but I'll probably end up getting the Noah 9 for weight and size purposes. Great tarp tho!First of I'll just admit I haven't spent much time using this tarp just yet but from my little experience i think it will do well. The Amazon description for this tarp does not say it comes with 6 quality Kelty stakes and the guy lines are claimed to be 7ft each. In fact only two of the guy lines were 7ft and the other 2 were about twice as long. I love extra cordage so I'm very happy about that. I love receiving more than expected. Anyways the Kelty Noah 12 seems to be a good budget friendly tarp and I look forward to putting it to use more and testing for the next few months, hopefully even longer. I plan to update this review once I have put this tarp through its paces thoughout the next year or so for an honest review. Or sooner if it fails me.

A really nice well-made tarp, but...
Two things: Replace the bulky and somewhat stretchy included cords with some better, smaller-diameter cord, and replace the 6 included stakes with some longer, better holding ones - the 12' tarp makes a great sail in any strong wind and can rip the stakes right out of the ground. They are good stakes, but for this big a tarp they don't hold as well as longer ones, plus their color makes them easy to lose on the fall leaf-covered ground. The tarp is a bit heavy but you get all sorts of tie-outs to configure it like you want. The catenary cut makes it pitch well even when not using any of the many other loops. For car camping this is a great tarp and if you're willing to hump it on your back it is a great deluxe shelter. I look to get a lot of good use from this tarp both for use over a hammock as well as general camping.

Great Lightweight Tarp
About four years ago, I purchased a Kelty Noah's Tarp 12. I have used the tarp numerous times and the only complaints that I have are the size, and an awkward, square, zippered storage bag. I wanted the Noah's Tarp 9, but they were out of stock everywhere, and I could not wait so I purchased the larger size.Kelty now offers their tarps in additional colors (I like green), and the clumsy storage bags have been replaced with a roll-top bag. Although the tarps are not ultralight, they are lightweight for their size and they are durable; my four-year-old 12' tarp has been used more times than I can count and it shows almost no signs of wear. The size and shape of these tarps allow a wide range of configurations, from the diamond (diagonal A) that is great in fair weather and is favored by many hammock users, to the standard "A" that sheds rain and snow nicely. A "storm shelter" can be made with the ends of the "A" folded together to block wind, or wind blown rain or snow. In addition, there is the standard lean-to, and the diamond lean-to. Overall, I think the 9' tarp is the best size, but the larger tarps are available if you need more space. The new 9' tarp includes paracord type guy-ropes already attached to each corner that are an improvement over the coarse-braded soft nylon cordage that came with the 12' tarp 4 years ago. The seven-inch sheppard-hook tents takes of roughly 7/32 inch (not quite 1/4") NoBendium II (aluminum?) are nice, but I prefer the aluminum Y stakes that came with the 12' tarp.I believe the lightweight Kelty Noah's Tarps are the best alternative available for those who cannot or will not pay the outrageous prices for cuben fiber or other ultralight fabrics.Five solid stars for the Kelty Noah's Tarp.

perfect!
bought and used the tarp to cover a camping event for four men. The rain came, the wind blew 40+ and the tarp held. Love the design, size, and adaptability. We had our fire on the edge and huddled in camp chairs and weathered the evening with no harm. Great for truck camping, but we carried it in because we knew we would need it and didn't want to waste an evening alone in hammocks or tents.

Tarp

Not disappointed!
The tarp is made from a good waterproof and resistant material, used it for a whole month in harsh weather condition and as soon as i was under it nothing could get to me!
