I was so pleased with this product! It's very hard to find quality educational and creative toys for children that aren't over priced - where you get a little quality for a lot of money. This kit is worth every penny. I shopped around and found the best price on Amazon. Got it for my 8 year old's birthday (just turned 8) and she loved it. This is perfect for any girl that is interested in learning fashion design or sewing or has an interest in making their own barbie clothes - or just likes to be creative and artsy. As an added plus I found it useful for homeschooling. (Measuring, art, careers, textures, etc.) The kit included fun fabrics for the kids to play with, a mannequin, a book to draw their designs in and very nice instructions I was pleased with. Needles, swatches, thread, swatches, fabric glue and pencil, and a very pretty pre-made dress that the little ones can just add fancy stuff too if they want (I think it ran big though). There was more but I bought it a while ago so I can't remember everything. Little hangers for clothes. (Having a case to keep everything in would have been nice - but probably would have made the product more expensive.) There was a lot to "explore" with the kit so it wasn't just ripping it open and throwing it aside. It's definitely something to sit down with. I also felt it was new and different than a lot of stuff out there. (She's my youngest of six..so I've got a grasp on what's out there...) The idea of saving money by making barbie clothes is a good idea too. I am so happy I found this and I highly recommend it. If I'm ever stuck to get another girl a birthday present and they like Barbies I'd definitely consider getting this for a gift. Highly recommended.

I purchased this for my daughter's 9th birthday on a whim after noticing how much she enjoyed a little notebook style makeup design sketch book. I figured since this was in a similar vein it might be a hit. I had no idea just how much she would like it! This is a awesome gift. It just might become my go to party gift for the 8-12 year old crowd. The set comes with a fun standup mannequin (a bit bigger than Barbie), fabrics, trims, thread, glitters, pins, pencils, tape measure, scissors, thimble and even a nice little draw string bag to store it all. We love the sketchbook. It has templates (dress shape outlines) for all different styles of dresses so your child can sketch out their ideas. My favorite item in the kit is, 100%, the little fold out poster (not huge!) that walks kids through how to use the kit and how designers go through the creative process. My daughter is learning quite a bit about clothing design and also thoroughly enjoying herself at the same time. You get a fair amount of supplies for the price with this kit. I've included pictures to give you an idea as to the great quality. A nice mix of consumables and permanents (the mannequin, sewing accessories) - I'm betting this kit will spark a passion with its great instructions and sketch book and be a jumping off point for using all sorts of other consumable fabrics/laces/etc with it. Truly many many hours of fun for the crafty types. Great gift, great quality, huge hit. Buy it already! :)
