Q: Is this ready to use, or do you need the paste and the adapt barrier rings for using it?

The PT-8531 is ready to use. You will have to measure the size of Stoma with the templates that comes with the bag. Then you will have to mark the hole opening and trim the hole to the correct size. The hole should be 1/16 bigger than the Stoma. Make sure the bag opening fits over the Stoma. Clean the area to be covered and apply the Skin Protective Barrier Wipe. This helps to protect the skin and helps the adhesive pad to stick better. Then peal off the adhesive paper and place hole over the Stoma. There will be 2 more pieces of adhesive paper to remove to complete the process. I used the PT-8531 bags for 3 months on my wife. They are very flexible and work very well. Make sure to change the bag every 6-7 days. I did not need to use the paste or the adapt barrier rings. If you need any further help or a better explanation please let me know.FYI: To help keep the bag clean during use, after it has been emptied into the bowl or bed pan, then clean out the bowl. Take a small cup of warm water about 5 oz. and pour this into the bag opening, carefully move the water around in the bag and flush out back into the bowl. This helps to keep the bag and the Stoma clean. Sometimes I would have to rinse the bag out 2-3 times before it was very clean. Be patient, it will take a few times of doing this until you understand the process.
