Q: Listing is unclear on a key point. what is the material of the cutting edges please? carbide? or, more likely, steel? can you clarify?

These bits are definitely steel instead of carbide. None of them are particularly sharp, nor do they last long. After utterly ruining a fine piece of maple, I threw them away.

Q: Will these work with the Dremel 4000

As long as the Dremel 4000 tool accepts 1/8" dia. shaft tool bits, then these will work just fine. If you are not sure what size tool bits your Dremel 4000 accepts, go to the Dremel web site at: https://www.dremel.com/documents/20812/137350/New+1600A012FM_01-17_4000.pdf and download the manual for the 4000 and verify what dia. tool bits it will accept. From what I could find in the manual, the Dremel 4000 accepts 1/32", 1/16", 3/32", and 1/8" shaft diameter tool bits. So the SPTA 10Pc HSS Carbide Engraving Bits with 1/8" (3mm) diameter shafts/shanks should work fine.

Q: Will these work with a Drexel 300

I don't have a Drexel 300, but it's my understanding that they are supposed to work with any 1/8" coulet. I use mine with a Dremal and a Harbor Freight 1/4" trim router.
