Very thick and dense. Thick like an ointment, which makes it a challenge to easily dispense from tube. Super fine exfoliating granules remind me of ultra fine popcorn salt. This scrub does not lather, it stays clumped in the hand like a soft bar of soap. A challenge to cover skin. It is hard to work into the skin because of this. Dispensing takes some extra firm squeezing. I dont have hand strength issues, but it made me think about others who do. This is not for older thin/delicate skin or those with reduced hand strength. While I did feel that my skin was scrubbed, I didnt feel like it was clean. I felt the need to go over my skin with soap. Directions say to use this 2-3x per week. I'll use it up, but it wont be a repurchase. So use this only for the scrub action, and only if you have robust skin, and excellent hand strength. It may be just the thing you need for skin issues, but it isn't for me as a basic scrub down. I have others I greatly prefer (at various price points, so price does not factor at all for me. $44 is middle, low end for me.). Unless extended use proves to be amazing, I will keep this at a middle of the road rating of 3; "it's OK". Positive: smells ok. I like the initial grapefruit aroma, then is kind of sadly disappears. Ingredients: Glycerin, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, PEG-6, Polylactic Acid, Malic Acid, Lactic Acid, C20-40 Pareth-10, Silica, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Bambusa Arundinacea Stem Extract, Sea Salt, Phospholipids, Coffea Arabica (Coffee) Fruit Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Bixa Orellana Seed Oil, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Papain, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Sterols, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Glycolipids, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Water/Aqua/Eau, Olive Oil PEG-7 Esters, Maltodextrin, Xanthan Gum, Tocopherol, Limonene

Used this before & after washing. Prefer after so my incredibly dry, aging legs can absorb the light oil before I moisturize. Have to admit, after one use was a bit skeptical but, my faith in Dermalogica prevailed. This thermal scrub has teeny tiny, almost non existent beads. So when you turn off the shower to rub in scrub, you think hmm. But you know some of your fave exfoliators have no beads so you keep going. First use, could feel the warm thermal in my hands but not on my skin. Then I went outside & noticed had a bit of a "sunburn" on the more needed areas. Couldn't feel a thing and kinda liked the hint of color. So applied sunscreen. Now~ my skin is going through the aging, drying process. Which is why it's So Important when you're younger to be vigilant with hydration. I tell you this bc it took 3 uses to see & feel noticeable difference. I have all the tools but I realize after dropping 200 bucks on a Glo Pro, I'm not a body tool person. I need product. Something I can scrub on & wash off in the shower. So yes the scrub is not cheap but if it gets used, cheaper than the 200 bucks sitting in my cabinet. Turns out I didn't need the Glo Pro. Needed Dermalogica's Therma Exfoliant to bring back my glow. That's what it's done. Improved tone & skin glow on my 50 yo skin.

Dermalogica treats skin care with the approach of scientists and after so many products, I trust their brand. This is a body scrub and while I would spot test with most products first, I just rubbed it all over my body and face from the get go. It smelled like grapefruits and herbs and had a weird warming sensation. After which I sort of got scared to look in the mirror because I do have sensitive skin especially around my eyes and stuff. Thankfully it was all good, the ingredients being gentle and natural as usual. So since the first time, now I just use this all over when I do use it, because I don’t like to bother with too many products. I do put it on my face last so I don’t have it sitting there for a long time. It doesn’t feel squeaky clean though on its own, and it doesn’t claim to be a cleanser. It’s recommended use is 2-3 times a week so I only use it every few days especially when I’ve gone nowhere and don’t feel the need for squeaky scrub down session. Over a few weeks of use, it’s keeping my skin looking smooth and shiny with much less dead skin and dry flakes. Overall, low maintenance body skin care that can be incorporated into routine without extra trouble.

Overall, I like this Dermalogica Thermafoliant Body Scrub. It comes in a grey 177ml tube with flip top cap inside a grey box with gold accents. -It is legitimately THICK like a gritty vaseline ointment -Some may find it a little hard to spread due to thickness, but it isn’t bad -Definitely gritty, but very very fine physical exfoliating pieces that I don’t feel much when rubbing between two fingers, but I can feel when rubbing over a little larger of an area -Does not lather -One of the times I tested it, I used it as a hand scrub and I could definitely feel some mild scrubbing and it actually felt a little moisturizing afterwards -Due to the consistency, this is something I have been using in targeted areas like my chest or bottom while I’m in the shower. Otherwise, I feel like a lot of it gets lost if trying to spread out over a huge area -It has an interesting subtle smell that I like... perhaps reminiscent of the grapefruit peel oil -I like the ingredients (I took a picture of the full list) -Made in the USA -Has not caused any irritation to my sensitive skin (I have eczema) -It is fine -Just using your hands to apply is okay, but I like to scrub with either my silicone or mesh scrubber. It feels more effective that way Overall, I like this body scrub. It is different than others I have tried and definitely the thickest. It may not be for everyone. I would consider this mildly physically exfoliating, so you may be disappointed if you want something tougher with larger exfoliating pieces. This also does have things like lactic acid to help exfoliate. I can’t speak to claims of this product brightening dull skin yet, but overall, I think it is worth a try if you are looking for a very thick but mild scrub for targeted areas of the body. I have tried some other dermalogica products, and they all seem to be good quality. I hope my review was helpful in some way, and if so, I would love to know-thanks!!

I am struggling with my chest acne recently. This Dermalogica Thermafoliant Body Scrub has been great at exfoliating and smooths and energizes my irritated, itchy gross chest acne. If you are one of those girls that you worry and care about what cosmetic companies add for their ingredients, this product isn't so bad for the nature and for yourself. A lot of body scrub products contains micro-plastic ingredients to cheap out, to maximize exfoliating effect. This Dermalogica Body Scrub contains Polylactic Acid. Poly(lactic) acid (PLA) is a biodegradable aliphatic polyester, PLA sometimes called polylactide, which can be produced by fermentation of renewable resources such as corn, cassava, potato and sugarcane. The biodegradability at temperatures below 60 oC is very slow, it takes several years to biodegrade. PLA is expected to biodegrade within 6-12 months. I own a septic tank and a well for our house. I definitely worry about what I flush into my water septic and what goes to my well. Overall, Dermalogica did great job on using natural, eco friendly ingredients. I wouldn't be so mad about the higher price for the good ingredients after all. This body scrub did great job calming and helping to reduce my chest acne. I would highly recommend trying this body scrub!
