Otrivin Adult's Nasal Spray - Clears Blocked Noses, Pack of 3

The principal ingredient is oxymetazoline hydrochloride 0.05% which is identical to what is in AFRIN. The only difference is that this product is 3 times cheaper. Oxy... is a vasoconstrictor (narrows blood vessels). According to every med usage writeup, oxy... should be used no more than 3 consecutive days or the user will experience a nasal rebound (a congestive swelling of the nasal passage). To relieve this swelling (due to blood vessel expansion), more oxy... is applied. This produces 12-hr cycles of use which eventually becomes addictive. The product is VERY effective and will relieve your congestion for close to 12 hrs. You will know it stops working when the congestion returns (short time frame). Use it for congestion (stuffed up nasal passage), NOT a runny nose. It can make your nose feel dry, so in that case, keep a squeeze bottle of saline solution around and use it every now and then. I can say all this because I have used AFRIN (oxy...) for many decades, and I am addicted to it. Ive experienced no nasty side effects thruout these many years other than being scolded by various MDs and ENT docs. The rebound effect is quite real and unpleasant. I have tried to quit (like quitting smoking), but the rebound effect seemed to stay around almost continuously. My best attempt was 9 months, but I finally caved in, and the rebound won. So, is this a 5-star product? For me... yes.

I have used Otrivin for 30 years. I started using it when I was pregnant with my first child and I couldn’t breathe through my nose. It is the only nasal product I have ever used that actually clears your nose of all stuffiness. I have recommended it to countless people.

I’m not using this for my nose, I’m using it as eye drops to widen the eye. This is the same active ingredient found in UPNEEQ -for those of you who are familiar with that product know what it does. Negative aspect is unique has no preservative this has benzalkenium chloride irritate the surface of the eye when used for a prolong term.

The product came and was completely covered in mold. Once I opened the moldy damp boxes, each bottle was moldy as well. Out of the three bottles, one was empty and one was almost empty. They are completely not useable as seals are broken and mold ridden.

Almost immediate nasal clearing. However, bottle gave a stream instead of a spray so make sure to test spray a few times before use.
