We have a 6 month old Female Golden Retriever. She has many toys to play with including soft ones for tug-of-wars. Understandably so, she often assumed that her soft nylon leash was also a tug of war toy when she got bored on a walk. This metal chained leash immediately stopped that cycle the very first time she tried to grab it! She's smart and not once yet has she tried to tug this leash with her mouth. Fast learner and more importantly, this leash did the job! This leash is well made. The links look strong and yet, are small and light enough (we have the 4 foot length for better control of our dog) not to be heavy at all for a 1-2 miles walk. There's a lot of metal leashes available on Amazon, but, we're 100% satisfied with this one which was our first choice when we ordered it. 5 Stars all around!

I decided to buy the chain type leash since my pup chewed, within seconds, her nylon leash. I leave the leash on her during the day to get her accustomed to a leash and the ability to grab it if I have to direct her from off limit areas or to quickly go out doors. I also use it to confine to one area in the house. However, she did tear the pliable plastic handle. I duct taped it and it seems to be holding. Now that she is older, I use it every time she goes outside, leading her to the potty area and for daily walks. The chain part discourages her from wanting to bite it. The chain is strong, hasn't rusted from all the times getting wet when pup plays in her water bowl. Overall it is a good strong leash and am pleased with my purchase. My only complaint is that I wish the handle was made out of a more durable leather or thick military strength canvas type of material. Duct tape so far seems to work keeping it together if your dog bites it.
