Q: I need to go about 275 ft from intercom to camera. can i use cat 5 & if so is there connectors i need to buy or do i splice to your ends

I went about 100' with cat5. I stripped and twisted the pairs together to get 4 larger gauge wires and then butt connected them to the ends that came with the intercoms

Q: Do you just mount it near your door or over your doorbell?

My camera and speaker are on a gate outside about 50 feet away from the front door of my cottage and it works very well.
