There's conflicting info online (and from Metra themselves) about needing a significantly more expensive wiring harness if you're replacing a basic Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep REF single disc CD & aux stereo (which doesn't include navigation or steering wheel controls). The 70-6502 harness works just fine except you need to drop the red 12V accessory wire from your new head unit and tap into any nearby acc-powered line (in my case it was the cig lighter). It's easiest to do this with an inexpensive splice connector, the type that bites into the positive wire and your acc wire when crimped. This product gets 5 Stars for making the job take minutes.

Worked perfectly with my 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan. Two things to be aware of: 1. Verify first-hand that this is the correct harness for your vehicle before your order! I made the mistake of relying on Amazon Garage to tell me what was compatible with my vehicle, and they recommended the wrong wire harness (Metra 70-1817.) Didn't realize this until spending time soldering connections and taking my dash apart, at which point I had to cut the connections, return the harness and order this one instead. Time wasted. 2. The wire colors did not line up 100% with the Pioneer head unit I installed (model DEH-X6900BT.) For example, the blue wire on the head unit corresponded to the "white with blue stripe" wire on this harness. I had to read the documentation for both the harness and the head unit to verify that both wires are intended to control the same thing before making the connection. There were a couple mismatches left over after soldering everything else. Not a huge deal, but not as simple or clear as it could be, which again wastes valuable install time.

This made upgrading my 2004 Ram 3500 radio head unit WAY easier than I would have been if I had to splice into my factory harness. Just match up the colors/ labels and use your preferred wire connection method and you’ll save yourself a considerable amount of time.

This item fits the wiring harness in a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan. The wires are stranded copper and of sufficient gauge. In fact, the wires were larger gauge than those on the harness which came with the stereo. I needed to slightly bend (straighten) one pin on the connector in order to easily connect it to the car's receiving connector. I used solder and heat shrink tubing and the wire insulation did not shrink (that I noticed) when heat was applied. The wiring color chart is printed on the plastic bag packaging. If there is any negative for this item, it's that the word 'left' is spelled 'leet' on the chart.

For the price, this is Ok for my '03 Jeep TJ Wrangler. It does provide (almost all) of the actual leads which you will need to connect a (basic) stereo to the factory harness. Just know that there are better adapters out there. I found one which (while being twice the price), already had the other end (generic main, black connector to drive most aftermarket head units) already soldered on and attached to what you see here. So the guess work and trial and error with the other unit was already done for me. With this one you need to experiment with the colors and figure out if stuff works, before crimping or soldering the leads together. Well worth the extra expense. In my opinion the Metra Console kit should already include this part inside of that kit, and not require you to purchase this separately, for what you get here. However, know that if you need to drive a TJ factory sound system with the Amp and Bass unit (in the arm rest), then you will struggle to power those.
