The Girls' Book of Flower Fairies: A Fairy Book for Girls

this book is just beautiful, from cover to cover (literally). it is nicely bound with gold trimmed pages, and is sure to impress any little girl the moment she sets her eyes on it. inside, the pages are filled with gorgeous, whimsical drawings of fairies and fairy life. it is chock full of stories, poetry, creative ideas, and information. it will be a wonderful addition to any little girl's library. my own daughter, who is about to turn six, received this for christmas and she absolutely loves it. she is not the disney jr/nickleodeon crowd; she was already inclined to nature and fairies, she loves beatrix potter and molly brett, and creative imaginative play. so it was right up her alley. but i also bought this for a 6 year old niece who seemed equally impressed at least by the cover. i think it would be great for any little girl, age 5 to 9. especially in this day and age of TV characters and battery operated toys that kids grow tired of (or break) within a few months, or are just obnoxious to look at; it is nice to find a gift that is simple, beautiful, and inspires all that is so wonderful about that age in girlhood. there is a fair amount to read, so i think as girls learn how to read this will keep them entertained for years past kindergarten. however there is still many, many pictures, so it is appropriate for 5 or 6 year olds too. this book will be a keepsake and treasured by any little girl. it would be a great gift you will be proud to give :)

I bought this as a gift, so quaint and unique for anyone at any age. The art is superb and the descriptions are fantastic. A truly magical item to add to any collection.

This book is gorgeous!! I can't say enough about it. A Christmas gift for my granddaughter..

This book was a gift for my grandmother, who loves fairies. Even though it's directed at young girls, I think she'll love all of the craft projects and ideas that this book has. It has features on what fairies use for hats, shoes, furniture, dishes, etc. The projects and "articles" are simple, innocent, and fun. The book is a beautiful, thick hardback with gold-edged pages and a burgundy ribbon inserted into the spine for use as a bookmark. The images inside are an assemblage of the artist's original art, with a wide variety to peruse. I could spend hours looking through it myself. One of the neatest things is the glossary in the back, which uses the artist's original rectangular artworks as icons. I got this in combination with the Complete Book of Flower Fairies, which has large prints of the artist's original works. I think the two together make a nice set for fans of fairies.

My 4 and 6 year old are obsessed with fairies and I can’t say this book hasn’t made me obsessed as well! The illustrations are absolutely magical, the stories, poems and information is well written and there are also some great project and party ideas as well! Also, as a homeschool parent, this is a fantastic way to get kids recognizing flowers and plants and learning fun facts about them! I don’t think you’ll be disappointed by any Cecily Mary Barker fairy books!

My girls spent the Summer making a fairy garden. Found this book for them for Christmas. Exceeded my expectations. Very very beautiful book and fantastic quality. Also got them fairy lantern kits to go with the book.

I bought this book for my daughter for Easter. She loves fairies but I did not know what a bargain I actually received! There are all types of things for children to do. Crafts, games, little tidbits to read. The only thing is if your child is not into reading so much, this book might not be the book for them unless you are willing to help them out a bit. There is a lot of reading on every page. However, my daughter does not have the issue with this especially because there are vivid, detailed, colorful pictures on every page. I encourage anyone looking for a great book to stir the imagination to get this one. It's wonderful.

This was a most incredibly successful birthday gift for a six year old girl who likes all the girly things and loves, loves, loves, fairies. Did I mention that SHE LOVES FAIRIES! I find that most young girls do. The book is solidly made, voluminous with good text about the lives of fairies of all kinds with illustrations so detailed and precise that an adult could appreciate it. Five stars for fairy lovers.
