Used them for food storage
These are what they look like: mylar storage bags. I seal them with a hair straightener, which works great for that purpose. NOTE that I was NOT be able to use them with a food vacuum sealer because there's no air ducts pressed on the inner surface to allow air flow. It was an interesting test, but they seem to be incompatible with food vacuum sealers. They weren't advertised for that, so I'm not removing a star for it. Instead, I vacuum seal food into a gallon size clear bag, then seal the vacuumed clear bag inside this mylar bag for extra protection from UV, air, etc. Has worked great for stuff that is too small to fit inside those giant 5 gallon bags.

Good size.
These mylar bags are a good size. I had ordered a variety-size package initially and found that this 1-gallon size was the most used. They are great for long-term food storage. If you have never purchased from warehouse-type grocery stores because you fear the food item will get spoiled by the time you get around to eating it, this is a solution. Using storage bags allows you to break down the larger boxes and bags of items into smaller sizes to prep them for longer storage time by removing air and sunlight. This extends the viability of foods and with prices going up, now is the time to look for alternatives to the grocery store. I used to use the name-brand plastic vacuum seal bags but found them to frequently become "unvacuumed", which meant that there was an air leak and water, moisture, bugs, etc could come in and ruin the food. These mylar bags have not only a ziplock seal but can be heat sealed. I would suggest using an oxygen absorber pack inside prior to sealing as well as vacuuming out any excess air. If you do not have a vacuum sealer, use the "straw method" to reduce the amount of air in the package before sealing. Straw method - put items in the bag, insert a straw on one edge poking out, zip close the bag all the way up to the straw, suck the air out of the bag using the straw, pull the straw out quickly and seal it tightly.

Seal nicely!
Just got them about half hour ago. Already filled n sealed a batch for the freezer! They sealed great with my sealer (it has adjustable thicknesses). However... I first tried with my vacuum sealer... It vacuumed great, but the sealer part wasn't hot enough... The bags are very sturdy, so no worries about getting holes/tears if moved around. These are "flat" bags, not "pleated" on the bottom. I easily put 2 cups of diced chicken in each with plenty of room to seal.

Work well
My wife and I are carnivore so eating while traveling can be difficult. We've decided to start making our own backpack meals. These bags did the trick for us to make carnivore, calorie pre-counted meals that hydrate right in the bag with 1/2 cup of boiling water. They do work in my Game Saver sealer and hold tight. You can find the trick online to make it work but basically you cut a pre-existing vac bag into 1" strips and just using the textured part place it perpendicular in the mylar bag. I use about an 8" long strip and leave a little bit sticking out the top. Vac and seal like normal and then hit it with an iron immediately to "seal" the deal. Mine are holding vacuum and ready to go with us on the next road trip.

Good for single use
Good for single use product as they are not resealable like I thought they were when I purchased them. My error. They are not as heavy as other bags, but I did find them useful for dividing spice packets that I would use once anyway

FABULOUS!!!!
These truly are fabulous bags. I use them to store all kinds of dry goods. My flour will last for about 20 years in these bags. Sealing them is simple. I use a regular iron, and it takes about 3 seconds. Plus, they are reusable.

Easy to use
I recently stored some food in these Mylar packages and I sealed them with my flat iron and it was very easy to use and I recommend this product. The Mylar bag is thick and sturdy

Most of the bags, and I mean over 75%, thatvI tried vacuum sealing, or with an OA did not hold for more than a couple of days. I have been doing this for a while, so I recognize the problem. They are also quite thin. I would not, and will not, use them for storage. A shame.

I have used mylar for a number of years and will not purchase below 4.75 and these do not come close to being that thickness. I will not use for long term food storage. I will use them for other uses. I even hesitate to heat seal with my sealer, I may try using a hand held hair straightener and find one will a low setting.

They are very thin and not as thick as the previous ones I purchased so I returned them
