A Middle-earth Masterpiece
Monopoly has taken a captivating journey to the realms of Middle-earth with its "Lord of the Rings Edition," and it's a tabletop experience that will delight fans of both the classic board game and J.R.R. Tolkien's epic cinematic trilogy. First and foremost, this edition just shines in the visual department. The board itself is a work of art, a beautifully rendered map of Middle-earth, complete with iconic locations from the movie trilogy. Whether you're venturing through the Shire, navigating the treacherous terrain of Mordor, or acquiring properties in Rivendell, the attention to detail is astounding. It's a visual feast that immerses players in the rich and beloved world of Tolkien, which is really exciting to me, as some Monopoly editions skimp out on the theming. This one does not! What truly sets this edition apart are the game pieces. Each character is a meticulously crafted work of art, cast in high-quality metal and brimming with intricate details. From Frodo and Sam with their faithful backpacks to Legolas, Gimli, and Aragorn in their heroic poses, these tokens pay a fitting tribute to the beloved characters of Middle-earth. Samwise's pans on his back are a charming touch that made me laugh when I saw them. Also the attention to detail is appreciated because on figurines this small, you can't really see their faces so distinctive items are vital. The property pieces, designed to resemble Minas Tirith, add an extra layer of Middle-earth to the game. It's these little touches that make the experience so immersive for fans. And, of course, we can't forget "The One Ring" – a coveted collectible that comes with this edition. I didn't take a picture of that because everyone knows what it looks like, but it feels like any ring. This is a collector's dream and a fantastic gift for any fan of Tolkien. It seamlessly blends the beloved world of Middle-earth with the classic gameplay of Monopoly, resulting in an immersive and visually stunning board game experience. I'm very happy with it.

Very fun! Beautifully designed! Would recommend
Can’t get my family to stop playing this! I do believe that a game is only as enjoyable as the community playing it, but for LOTR geeks, it’s an easy blast! Our Christmas, birthdays, and new years was spent around this board and it’s the highlight of most family gatherings. The pieces are very well made! They’re weighty and detailed and I tip my hat to the illustrator who designed the locations because they are superb! Got our moneys worth in this one.

The One Monopoly to Rule Them All - An Amazing Gift for LOTR Fans!
If you're a fan of The Lord of the Rings and you love board games, this game is perfect for you! It is one of the best versions of Monopoly, and the theme makes it wonderful. First off, the box art looks fantastic, and so does the board. The cards and components are very high-quality and very LOTR-themed. The metal figures are very large and heavy, and they are very detailed. The One Ring fits on your hand and is made of high-quality metal (possibly forged in the fires of Mount Doom🤣). It adds special mechanics to the game, which makes the gameplay feel a lot more engaging than Monopoly Classic. You definitely won't regret this purchase! (Not sponsored by Amazon, Hasbro, or the LOTR Franchise) (Many older reviews said the box came damaged or ripped, but mine came in perfect and BEAUTIFUL condition).

Too much money but still a good game
I was reluctant to order this given the reports of damaged boxes and missing pieces but it was such a small percentage of peoples complaints I took a chance. Well..... mine came in pristine condition. Whew! Game gets a good grade for being an interesting take on Monopoly. You can really harm other players with punitive Chance cards I won't spoil here. One thing I didn't like is that there is no mention of the primary characters in the game much like Avengers or Game of Thrones Monopoly. I can't fathom this but this seems to be Hasbros way of doing things with their Monopoly theme games. Sure you have tokens of the Fellowship characters, which are beautiful by the way, but no direct mention of them in the game. Not incorporating main characters in their games seems hard to understand. I also found the punitive Chance Cards in both Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings are identical. These games are essentially the same game with a different skin and some minor theme specific differences that most customers would never notice if they weren't a collector of Monopoly games and see how similar they are. To actually have the One Ring in the game you can wear or slide on your token is cool but getting the ring to Mount Doom can be an exercise in futility. The idea was novel but not the way its done in the game where the ring changes hands so much. In the movie only Frodo was burdened with it but here all can be and the longer you have it the rougher it is on you. Interesting as I said but needed some better thought. Am I sorry I bought the game? No, but the price was too high and should have been $20 cheaper. The fact the coins, deeds and other cards are made of cheap cardboard in and of itself should have also made for a cheaper price.. Also the fact mostly all Hasbro Monopoly games are essentially the same is like watching multiple movies with different characters but the exact same plot each time was a bummer. I still can recommend it. Its an attractive looking game for sure.

Hard to distinguish some characters
This game is really fun, my husband and I are big LOTR fans. The only thing to note is that the characters aren’t the most detailed so if we play with the hobbits we tend to move the wrong pieces since they are so similar. Other than that a great game! When we play with 2 people we start out with more money than what is recommended, we found we ran out really fast with lower amounts and only 2 people.

What is better than than the greatest movie trilogy of all time and the greatest board game of all time? Combining the two in this excellently themed game! I am particularly impressed with how it incorporates the One ring into the gameplay. Great family fun. Highly recommended! Also, super fast delivery and quality from Amazon!

This Lord of the Rings Monopoly set is beautifully designed and the gameplay is well thought out! It includes all nine members of the fellowship (as represented in the movies) as game pieces and the One Ring (well crafted) as an exciting element of gameplay. Each piece has a nice weight to it. The quest cards bring each game various plot twists, and the ring adds a thrilling danger just like in the trilogy and the movies. The quality and detail of every element of the game was pleasantly surprising. The game arrived on time (for a birthday), and though it is pricey, the experience was worth it. Playing this game was a fun and competitive adventure for the whole Lord of the Rings crowd- especially with jokes of, "My preciouss", and, "One does not simply walk into Mordor." I would recommend this game for anyone over the age of ten, as it somewhat differs from the classic Monopoly game and is a touch more complicated. That said, the instructions were still engaging and understandable. My only concern is that the hobbit figurines are close in appearance, but the more you play, the easier it becomes to tell them apart. Overall this was a wonderfully unique gift for a Monopoly and The Lord of the Rings lover!

Summary: fun game but for A$86 the quality and depth of thought put into is pretty underwhelming Pros: - fun concept with additions to traditional monopoly being the ring and journey to Mordor - nice to change out chance cards for quest cards - nice cast metal characters - good instructions Cons: - poor quality of printed property locations with grainy images - all the things you touch eg the coins, Mordor coins, quest cards and property cards are made of thin cardboard with no lamination, adds to the cheap feel and they’ll wear out quickly - corners for passing go, free parking, jail etc could have had some imagination to make them LOTR themed, it’s a bit stupid retaining these when everything else is themed - metal characters, especially the hobbits could be more distinguishable - some of the locations could also have had some more imagination e.g. ‘Bow’ or ‘Staff’ as names for the utilities is meh when the others are called ‘sting’ and ‘morgul blade’
