Emerson, Lake & Palmer : Every Album, Every Song (On Track)

i'm really loving this book as i was always and still am a big fan of ELP. The book is well written and full of facts about the band and every song. I've seen them many times in the past but still go to see CARL PALMER LEGECY BAND when they come to my area !

I purchased this with some trepidation and am now halfway through the book. It's excellent, with great observations and details that any ELP fan like me will be grateful to absorb. What is apparent here is Mike's obvious love of the band and their wonderful music. I am fed up with critics knocking the band over the years so, fair play to the author for redressing the balance and presenting their work in a positive light. Well Done Sir !

ページ数が少ないので、既知の情報がほとんどであろうと思っていたが、読んでみると意外と内容は良いもののようである。「展覧会の絵」では、(ELPの分析には必要ないと思うが)Hartmannの原画への考察や、William Nealの絵にも言及している観点は、特徴ある分析であると思う。「Trilogy」では、各曲のLive演奏にも言及している点は、当albumの考察すべき特徴を良く理解している証である。楽曲Trilogyでは、1972年3月22日のこの曲唯一の録音を取り上げ、Keithのオーディエンスへの発言を引用して説明されている。また楽曲Hoedownでは、Oliver Nelsonについても説明されている点が評価できる。但し、Live演奏に関する説明にいくつかの誤りがあるのが残念である。 各albumについて、2 page程度のalbumの説明の後に、収録された各楽曲が説明されている。以下に目次を示す。スタジオ録音に「展覧会の絵」を加えた10枚のalbumが個別に取り上げられている。 1.Foreword (P.8) 2.Emerson,Lake and Palmer (P.11) 3.Tarkus (P.21) 4.Pictures At An Exhibition (P.33) 5.Trilogy (p.44) 6.Brain Salad Surgery (P.55) 7.Works Volume 1 (P.70) 8.Works Volume 2 (P.85) 9.Love Beach (P.92) 10.Black Moon (P.99) 11.In The Hot Seat (P.108) 12.ELP Live Albums (P.116) 13.ELP Collaborations And Solo Albums (P.121) 14.references and bibliography (P.125) 個人的感想としては、もう少し内容のボリュームが欲しかった。評価的に4.5点程の認識であるが、★4つの評価とした。

Great account of one of the best Bands ever. Lots of new information not previously noted in the biographies. Just one small negative. Did anyone proof read the final draft? It is littered with typo’s and grammatical errors. I’m no English teacher but I spotted dozens of grammatical glitches. Never the less I was able to skim over that and enjoy the writing whilst listening to the entire ELP back catalogue, including remastered and remixed.
