AMT Lindberg 1/72 Scale Air Force Rescue Boat

2018年9月23日に届いて、そのままにしていました。2020年2月28日に組立てをスタートして、5日後の3月3日に完成しました。仕上がりはまあまあです。このキットは、組立て説明書が不親切と言うか、図がとても小さくて理解するまでに時間がかかりました。形を見ればわかるのでパズルのように部品を眺めていたら理解できます。仮組みをしてセロテープで止めて確認しました。部品はあまり多くないが、船体を貼り合わせたり、船体にデッキを取り付ける時など、セロテープで引っ張ったりしてキチンと合わすには苦労します。箱の中は、ライナー(とても太い) は、所々で切り離されていて、バラバラで一つの袋に詰められています。番号も見えにくい所があります。日本製のように整頓されていません。しかし、部品の合いは良い方だと思います。手すりの糸は同梱されていないため、以前製作した他のメーカーの模型で、余った物を使用しました。 全長33cm X 全幅8cm X 全高13cm。

My Uncle Blackie Paugh was in the Army Air Corp during WWII and he was a sailor. I wondered aloud then just how many sailors they had in the Army Air Corp which was the precursor to the Air Force we know today. He was responsible for picking airmen out of the water if their fighter or bomber didn't make it back across the Mediterranean from a mission over Italy and they had to ditch at sea. Everyone knows about the sharks along the coastline of Africa. Sometimes when the crash boat got to the site of the ditching the sharks had been there first and they recovered only some of the remains of these airmen. It was a horrible job when that happened. His unit received several citations for saving over 166 airmen during his service. He was one of many average everyday heroes during WWII just doing his job. I bought this model to honor his memory.
