I bought this fish hook necklace as a Christmas present for my husband who loves The Rock and his character Maui from Moana. He has worn it every day since! It makes an impressive gift. My husband thought I paid a lot more than I did. The hook itself is beautiful, solid thickness with clean carvings, and expertly wrapped with cord. The length is fully adjustable with really clever slider beads! It looks very trendy and masculine on him. Careful, though—the tip is a bit sharp! It poked a hole in his shirt!

This is the 4th hook necklace I've purchased and a always, it's the perfect fit, length and style! I'll probably order another one next year. I think the salt water degrades the rope and that's why it doesn't lay a year for me. Perhaps I'll start washing it with clean fresh water after I've been in the ocean to help preserve its integrity. Thanks for such a great necklace.

Absolutely beautiful! I totally recommend this necklace! It's lightweight and durable. I've showered with it, slept with it on, it's like it's not even there. Plus the carving is very nice and getting a few pieces of Hawaiian candy was a nice touch as well. What's even more interesting is that I have had lots of dreams about the ocean and fishing. Trust me you're not going to be disappointed in this necklace!

I like the symbology and meaning of the makau. I wish I could find one made of dead coral or bone, actually hand made. I've bought 3 now, they all look exactly the same. The hook will last the rope usually breaks after a year (of constant wearing) and I've tried repairs but then the length gets smaller and smaller and can't be removed when needing to. The size and shape is perfect, I don't care for the fancier looking ones, they are usually too thick. So, I'll keep buying these every year.

The memories I have of Hawai'i are printed into my soul and when I held this necklace in my hands I could feel the islands around me. For the cost, the price is more than perfect and all I can do is tell you to get one for yourself! I really like the insert "Hawaiian Bone Fish Hook" that gives you the meaning behide the necklace's origins and purpose.

Hook is actually a bit bigger than I expected which I’m glad of. Lashing looks great and the adjustable bead holds good and tight. Wish there was a way to keep the excess rope from hanging down my back so much but the trade off is well worth it so no complaint there. Feels like plastic but it def is legit material just polished well. Design cut in the front is just as good looking as the pic.
