Think this would be suitable for an 11 year old boy

I gave one to a 14 year old girl, and she loves it. Cut herself first day, but not since. In my day boys had a .22 rifle by 11 or 12. So depends on the child. Will he cut himself....if not already then soon if he isn't raised in a bu bble. Any knife will do for a lifedecent lesson. Part of growing up.
