If you're into comfort and not concerned about fashion, these make for great apparel. Plain enough to get away with at most public places that aren't on beaches or "progressive" areas without drawing much attention, although I do get the occasional comment. Besides, if you live in one of those places, you have a few pair of these already. And if you're honestly looking at getting these, you're not terribly concern about public opinion. Fit nicely over swimwear. Dry quickly. Stay flexible and cool. Handy pocket to put your doodad in, but otherwise, you'll need a purse/satchel/vest/jacket for any items you don't want to carry in your hands. One size fits all, assuming you're not morbidly obese or large enough to play rugby on a professional level. Must have for Pastafarians.

Why won't makers of Thai pants reinforce the crotch? These pants are wonderful- good price point, excellent feel, good materials, and better-than average construction. I buy the XL/plus size because I like to wrap the pants a bit more than most people. BUT, like (almost) every manufacturer of these pants, they do not reinforce the areas that are naturally prone to failure because of the design of the pant. The crotch, and the areas where the ties connect to the pants are basically the major fail points of Thai Fisherman pants, yet no one ever reinforces them. A dozen wears in, and you get tearing. So, would I but these pants again? Yes. Would I wear them before I reinforced the crotch and belt attachment points? Not a chance. If you can sew, or have access to someone who can, scoop these up. If not, you're paying $25 for a pair of pants that last a month.
