Almost but not quite.
I loved this book. Well all but the final chapter which seemed to exemplify ideas over content. Great concept, heart sinking results. However, most of the work features reassures me that this book is of great value to all lovers of photography and beyond.

only buy it for a course
uninteresting academic and not for reading unless you are on a degree course and need to quote from it in your learning. Try using your uni library or get one second hand you will never read it

The new edition was worth the update
This book is a very interesting description of contemporary art photography, it gives an overview of the key movements shaping the field, the author provides very brief accounts and interpretations of the works she has curated. The style is straightforward, sometimes erudite but never abstruse. The table of contents is as follows: Chapter 1 If This is Art Chapter 2 Once Upon a Time Chapter 3 Deadpan Chapter 4 Something and Nothing Chapter 5 Intimate Life Chapter 6 Moments in History Chapter 7 Revived and Remade Chapter 8 Physical and Material Chapter 9 Photographicness. This is the second time I read this book and as for the previous one, it was well worth my time. If study the subject, practice it or just curious, this book will

This is one cool book. My professor recommended for me. I am a photography student in University right now and I sometimes have a hard time with knowing how and what to photograph. This book goes over a lot of various images taken in contemporary manner. It has a lot of images and descriptions. It is a book for the college level but it is a great book for those who want to get a deeper dive into photography and understand various advanced techniques. It is a must have for any photographer in art studies.
