No Taste or Texture, Great Prebiotic!
This is a wonderful fiber. It's very fine in texture with no grittiness at all and no pronounced flavor of its own, so it mixes well with anything. When taken daily, it makes my tummy feel so good!

Acacia and Now supplements--work for me
Acacia is a good supplement for me. For me it's an alternative to psyllium. Acadia appears to have no additives like sugar. It isn't grainy. Works for me. Also I like NOW supplements I use them all the time.

Works great!
I bought this because it's more reasonably priced than the other product I was using. It works just as well. The taste is okay but I just drink it fast. I only mix it with water, but if you put it in something else, it would be good, too. It works well for me, I will keep buying. Oh ,& I use a hand blender to mix it up, it's not required but there's no clumps or grit.

Dissolves, but slowly
I've just finished my first bottle of this product (took about a month) and I have experienced a modest, but clear improvement to my digestion. I've also tried other prebiotics such as the one from HyperBiotics, and this one is better and cheaper. I did experience a bit of extra gas for the first few days, but this quickly subsided. The label says "Highly soluble, mixes easily." I think that is definitely an overstatement. However, I've discovered something that might help others. When you first mix this with water, it will be sludgy and clumpy. The water will be murky. However, if you stir it up and then simply let it sit for about 10-15 minutes, this improves remarkably. The water takes on an appearance more like tea, and almost all the clumps dissolve. The longer you leave it, the more complete the effect is. Sometimes I'll mix it up first thing and then have it after breakfast, and it's basically just tea at that point. So if the clumpiness has been bothering you, give this a try and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. I'm giving it four stars for now because it's not a cure-all and the slow dissolve is a bit of a pain. However, it's definitely worth a try if you're looking to improve your digestion.

Good Fiber Source, Non-thickening, Won't lower Cholesterol, Don't use with Amoxicillin
This brand of acacia fiber is something I have been adding as a fiber supplement to some of my protein/veggie shakes for about a year now, especially for ones I don't want thickened up . If I want to thicken one up, I use psyllium. This particular company has been around for about 17 years and hasn't managed to land themselves any bad press for fake ingredients that I could find, so I am happy to continue ordering it from them. If you are ordering this, chances are you landed on some website that touted some possible health benefits. The main one that has actually been backed up by research is the reduction of BMI and body fat when used at doses of 30 grams a day for 6 weeks, and that was in acacia gum format. Studies have specifically been done with acacia fiber to see if it did provide cholesterol reductions, and it was shown that it *does not* reduce cholesterol. But I have seen some wellness websites extrapolating general benefits of other fibers to acacia fibers in that area, saying in effect that acacia fiber will also reduce cholesterol, which is actually not correct nor is it backed by the research. So specifically, if you are wanting this product for reducing cholesterol, go with psyllium, which studies actually have shown will reduce cholesterol. Or learn to love your oatmeal... Also, just as an FYI, acacia fiber will interact with Amoxicillin, and you should avoid taking this product when you're on this antibiotic because it interferes with absorption. So I'd recommend writing yourself a great big reminder note and sticking it on the bottle, because there's a chance your Dr. may not think to ask if you are taking this before they prescribe your antibiotics. Otherwise, if all you are wanting is a safe fiber additive that's not going to noticeably change the texture of the things you're adding it to, this is a great product, it's something I use, and it's something I can definitely recommend.

Ouch!
I take fibers every day for my chronic digestive illness, in an attempt to slow things down enough that I can live in society and actually leave my house once in a while. I took another brand of acacia fiber before, and it didn't do much that I could tell, but I wanted to try again because it typically gets rave reviews. I ordered this because of the brand and price. I tried it, small amounts, for several days and eventually was in so much pain within my intestinal region that I had to stop. It took me a couple days to figure out what was going on, I thought I had problems with my ovaries or something. Luckily, after the fiber worked its way through, I felt back to normal. I tried it again one time, last week, and was reminded of why I had pushed it to the back of the shelf. Zoinks. Painful experience! I think it worked as well as any other fiber at gelling things up, which is typically mediocre for me and not enough firming, but the pain factor makes me never want to try again. I always mix my fiber powders with a little ripe banana powder to make it taste good. Adding l-glutamine to my fiber mix has made a positive difference - I recommend it if you've got ibs-d or anything like that.
