Still works perfect after 5 years!
I have had this steamer mop for 5 years and still LOVE it! Using it today on my new tile floors. Using brush to clean dried up drywall on floor. Easy to use and I feel like it sanitizes my floors unlike traditional mops.

Best steam mop ever
Excellent in all ways. Lightweight, deep cleaning, easy to assemble. Love it!!! At first it wasn’t working and after doing some troubleshooting, I realized I had not tightened the one small screw that comes with this item to secure the water tank. I had put the screw in, but I didn’t tighten it down all the way. Once I did, the mop was ready to go.

Bissell is the best
This is the second Bissell Steam Mop that we've purchased. The first one lasted a long time and just couldn't take the beatings anymore. My husband and I have a lot of rescue animals and this steamer is amazing. We recently adopted an elderly girl and her daughter. The Mom is incontinent and has accidents. So along with puppy pads, this steamer gets a workout. It builds up steam quickly, really cleans well and we don't have to use a mop or paper towels. The cord length is great and it saves a lot of time and mess. I know with steam, the floors get really clean. I know I could buy another brand and possible save a few $$. So that brings me to another reason why I buy Bissell. They give back to animal rescues !!!! My husband and I are all about rescuing. Bissell will always get our business.

Works fabulously but life span is short - going to try distilled water only
I am now choosing this mop for the THIRD time. Am I a fool? Maybe. The first Bissell 1806 mop I bought worked exceptionally but stopped making steam after about 9 mos. I called Bissell and they sent me out another one, as it was under warranty. That mop worked fine for just over 2 years, then it also stopped creating steam. Now that one is headed to the landfill; warranty is expired. Unless you buy an extended warranty for 3 years, this seems to be a 2-year-life-span-maximum mop. Bummer. However, I really like the functionality of this mop, hence the reason why I just bought the same one yet AGAIN - even after consulting consumer reports and looking at what the new competition is! I really love how you can easily (while mopping) pop off the mop head with the foot release to expose the brush head and scrub at tough, stuck-on messes or even scrub the grout on a tile floor with ease... and it really gets it clean! Then you can just insert it back in the mop head and move on. The water tank is a decent size, and the cord is 25 feet which is fairly long. The water gets hot, hot, hot! And fairly quickly. There are other mops that have the scrubber/brush head but you have to stop the mop and change the heads. Not convenient and you might have to wait for the mop head to cool down. I am thinking that my hard water in my area is what is eventually killed my second steam mop, so I'm going to try distilled water only from now on, and will even try the new scented distilled waters on the market. We'll see how that goes. I took away one star because of the shorter life span, (I don' think hard water killed my first Bissell 1806) but otherwise this is a 5 star steam mop in my book.

Our old one lasted 10 years
I owned the standard version for 10 years. Now, granted, we didn't use it consistently all of those years. There were some years where it sat gathering dust because I only had the two pads that came with it and it was a pain to drag out. When we bought a house with my mother-in-law, she desired something more effective to mop with. So I opened Amazon and low and behold, there were now generic mop pad replacements on the cheap. I ordered a 10-pack, and now we could mop every day without needing to do a load of laundry in between. She loves the steam mop. To be honest, I do too. It's easier to push and it gets so much cleaner than any other mop I've tried. So after 10 years of on-and-off use (more so in the last 3 years), my original mop finally stopped making steam. I took the thing apart trying to see if something was clogged somewhere (DON'T do it unless you're a technician). It was time to buy a new one and I figured that since we use it so much (12 people live in our house), we deserved a deluxe mop. So I upgraded. I will say that the scrubby part is a little more clunky to use than the flip down scrubby on the original version, but it's more effective. It wasn't a huge upgrade to go to deluxe. The mop heads up quickly and the control panel on the deluxe makes a little more sense than the original. The best part is all my pads are compatible with it. Otherwise, I look forward to a few years of consistent use out of this mop!

Amazing Steam Mop!
I’m extremely impressed with the Bissell Steam Mop. It heats up quickly, is very easy to use, and leaves my floors spotless without any harsh chemicals. The steam power is strong enough to remove stuck-on dirt, and the swivel head makes it easy to clean around furniture. It works great on tile, hardwood, and laminate. If you want something lightweight, effective, and fast for everyday cleaning, this is a fantastic choice.

Life changing for the cleaning enthusiast
Having used this, I think that Swiffer just moves dirt and grime around on the floor instead of picking it up. I could not believe the bottom of my pad after 20 minutes of owning this machine. I will never go back to using a Swiffer and steam mops are the way forward. My buying notes: 1. As many others have stated, the water reservoir had droplets in it upon arrival. This has to be a QA/QC thing, but it would be nice for Bissell or Amazon to figure out how to either leave a note or to dry it out. Many of us thought we had received a used steam mop that was sent back. Not a big deal at the end of the day after learning about this. 2. The mop does make a slight sound while in use, like a soft knocking or gurgling, but not an issue. It would be nice for the startup guide to mention these so customers don't think they have a broken mop though. 3. The cord length is massively long (25 ft), way longer than my Shark vacuum. I will say this is a house type item for sure. If you have a small space like an apartment and don't like plugged in items, I'd look for a Tineco cordless steam mop. I like corded items mostly because the power output is usually better, and I don't have to worry about recharging. 4. The detachable base is nice for the bristle brush. It comes in handy for a lot of spots, especially in the bathroom and on tile. I do wish there was a more handheld aspect though that wasn't as awkward to hold for smaller areas. 5. The washable pads are awesome and work very well. The scent pads are a plus but not something I need. 6. As an equipment repair technician, I highly suggest making sure you use demineralized, distilled water or RO water. Over time, the chemicals and elements in tap water or a diluted cleaning agent will degrade the functions/parts of this unit. Any piece of equipment that is dealing in pressure, fluid and high temperatures is going to eventually breakdown sooner rather than later without proper maintenance. Reading the reviews, I already don't expect to get 10 years out of this thing, but I'm wondering how many issues were self-inflicted by not using the right water or not storing it properly. 7. As slim as this unit is, storing it is something to think about. I hang mine on my utility wall after draining and drying. I also detach the base to hang that separately as well. The base is quite wide like a large vacuum head.

Cleans the tile perfectly with 1 -2 swipes, just not necessarily the grout.
Enjoying it so far. I see a significant amount of steam. I do like the abiity to use the steam brush but i's just a challenge to disengage. Overall I use it often and it performs. Have used it about 5 times so far. it cleans the tile, not necesaryly the grout since it sits lower than the tile. It cleans all the sticky mess on the floor from cooking and mixing drinks.
