Temp - Kraken Aquatics Dry Snorkel with Comfortable Silicone Mouthpiece and Purge Valve for Snorkeling and Scuba Diving | Black Review: I love this snorkel! I have a back issue that doesn't allow me to do regular swimming because the twisting motion makes my back worse. But I love the water so I've adapted by using a mask and snorkel and exercise fins to do an underwater kind of breast stroke and up and down kicking using the swim fins to propel me through the water. This exercise actually strengthens the multifidus muscles in my back so that my back feels better for a good two days after I swim Anyway, back to the snorkel. I started with an inexpensive mask and snorkel combination to see if this way of "swimming" would work for me and it did, but the mask was uncomfortable and the snorkel mouthpiece was pretty hard and maybe because of the effort of holding it in my mouth, it took on water by the end of the third lap and I had to stop to let the water out. I did a lot of research and bought a new mask, then decided on this snorkel. What a difference! The mouthpiece is soft and comfortable and for whatever reason, it doesn't take on water so I'm able to swim continuous laps, making my swim sessions completely enjoyable. I swim twice a week for 40 minutes and am careful to thoroughly rinse the snorkel after use and to let dry thoroughly before putting it back in my swim bag. Although I almost caved and bought another snorkel in order to have a pretty color, I'm really happy that I bought this basic black but extremely well functioning snorkel. Good equipment definitely makes a difference. Review: This snorkel has nice soft silicone flex tube and mouth piece which is very comfortable to use. The mouth piece has a smaller form factor that feels much more natural in my mouth; less like a large mouth guard. The flex tube is naturally bent a little so it doesn't try to pull the mouth piece out like other snorkels with a straight tube. Both the dry and purge valves work awesome! If you swim a little crazy and go upside down or flip around and turn the snorkel upside down, it does stay dry for he most part but it is possible that a little water can get in. I will say that it definitely is a lot less than other 'dry' snorkels that I've tried. The best thing though is that because the silicone flex tube is so soft, it's really easy to just squeeze it a little and blow a big puff of air to get rid of the water, even while still underwater! I think the extra bit of space between the mouthpiece and purge valve is what helps keep whatever little water that gets in, away from the airway. It's also really cool looking, and the logo is pretty cool, so there's that.

Never used a snorkel before but I had a trip to hawaii coming up. The Kraken brand name came up in a number of YouTube videos I'd seen while doing a little research on what to look for. This item did NOT disappoint! Good construction with quality materials and super easy to use. My first time snorkeling was an amazing experience thanks to this snorkel and Kraken mask combo. The little floaty valve thing did its' job keeping water out for the most part, but when i did get the occasional splash of water into the tube, I was able to blow it out completely using the mouthpiece valve. My only issue with this one was that I had to blow with a good amount of effort to get the water out. Not really an inconvenience but it could just be that im new to snorkeling. Other than that, I'd like to mention the quick mask disconnect feature is pretty nice too. makes removal from the mask super easy when it's time to clean it out. I've since discovered more advanced gear as I'm completely sold on snorkeling now so i'll be upgrading the mask to a prescription one but this is an amazing snorkel that i'll be using for a long time to come!

The mask and snorkel are made out of quality material. However, I can't stop the glass from fogging. I have spit into it and had limited sucess re de-fogging. Perhaps there is an anti fog product that can be applied to the glass? The bridge of my nose hits the interior frame work and is painful. No my nose is not huge. Thinking that I have to head strap to tight, I have to loosen the head band to be comfortable. The mask still keeps the water out even when loosened. Adjustment of the head band is wonderful. Just push a button and the strap releases. I really like that feature.

I bought this snorkel for a trip in the Atlantic due to high reviews. It sucks that it took several uses for me to find out it doesn't work for me or my bf. Pros: Solid construction Made of silicone Quick clip is great Cons: I did not think this was that great of a dry snorkel. I dove several times but coming up I purged and it was like the ball got stuck so any waves coming over would start to get water in my snorkel. Not good. It's uncomfortable for small mouths. I know I have a small mouth. It is because my jaw does not open so wide. So clenching on this mouthpiece got uncomfortable at times. I will also say that my bf suffered from ball palsy when he was younger and he does have some control of his facial muscle but the mouthpiece was too big to form a comfortable seal for him. This is my first dry snorkel but I have used plenty of wet and semi drys before. Edit: cover piece over the purge valve fell off. No idea when and why it comes off so easily. I decided to purchase a different brand dry snorkel and confirmed that the mouth piece on this is a hard no for my small mouth. I've dove with this snorkel for over a year now and I'll be retiring it / keeping it as a spare for guests.
