I've used the Gen 2 for about a month, and even purchased a second to add to the protection size. I have noticed reduced bugs in the area once the 15 minute window is established. When I am out in my yard without it, it makes me realize how affective it is. The negative.... the refill. I wish there was a less wasteful solution to the refill. The fuel pack is a very sturdy no biodegradable plastic. You can't unscrew it to refill it, and there are no replacement refill fluids available from ThermaCell officially. You must buy the hard radius refill packs (which are larger, and last longer, but still the same material). If you are waste conscious, this is something to consider before purchasing. But beyond that they have worked in my experience at repelling flying bugs. I will gladly change my review if a more waste conscious refill option becomes available.

Living in S Fl not far from the Everglades. You could imagine we have our fair share of mosquitoes. What purchasing this machine and hoping it would help somewhat when we are outdoors was my goal. And it did work. Definitely noticing less bothersome bugs within a three to four foot radius of repellant. However, product reminds me of old Polaroid cameras and inkjet printers in the sense that their money is in the refills which are not cheap. The battery life is not great , about three hours and charging takes as long as discharge. However , the ability to be outside and not be mosquito bait makes it worth the price

So I never Write reviews, but I had to write one on this. The product is excellent and works very well in God-forsaken Florida where the mosquitoes are as big as houses… and the most of the year is miserable and hot and humid and full of bugs.. But anyway …I am so disappointed on how expensive the refills are… basically I have to return this because the refills are unaffordable! $20 for 40 hours! And I could use that up in 3 1/2 days around my back door…. If you are going camping or having a party or wedding, something like that, then I would highly suggest this…But if you are like me, and you are looking to control mosquitoes for any length of time at all I would definitely say to find a cheaper product….( unless you are rich and money is no option and you are willing to spend around $50 a week controlling mosquitoes, in about a 30 foot area….then go for it! ) This is about as honest of a review as you will find. I wish I could figure out how to refill them myself with citronella because that would be an idea but until I do I’m afraid all bets are off….Sorry for the downer news !! I would love to ask Jesus why in the world he ever made mosquitoes ?? Bye ya’ll

So I actually think this works to a large degree. I live where there’s a lagoon in my backyard and mosquitoes can be a big problem during certain times of the year. I don’t like the idea of using the spray fogs with all the chemicals. I tried a little bracelets and anklets they don’t work for me at all. I’ve tried tiki torches or I’ve had so many burning at one time I can barely breathe! This little device charges with a cable. And then runs wirelessly. They’re a little pods with wicks an insert in the device. And when it turns on it does it’s thing it really does reduce the mosquito population. Morning… The first time the power died on it and it stopped working I thought that the pod had reached its end and threw it out. It wasn’t till after I started a new pod and it still wouldn’t turn on and I realized it needed to be charged. I’m sure if I read the manual would’ve known that but either way for all of you out there that don’t read the manuals as well just take note before throwing a perfectly good pot in the garbage.

Mosquitoes have been driving me crazy past few years. I don't even like sitting on my patio anymore, the flying ba5tards ruin it for me. Bought this device in suggestion of my daughter and IT WORKS! Strong breeze would likely interfere, but sat on patio with a friend for over 2 hours and no bites. I set it up 15 minutes before going outside, and we were under patio umbrella. Now, other daughter wants one, neighbor wants one, and I want another one to extend my bug free bubble.
