Quality 2 Unit Rack Mount Shelf - Bang for The Buck. So impressed, we purchased a 2nd Shelf. 1st Shelf installed in Wiring Closet houses Cable Modem & Router mounted above Switches & PoE Injector. 2nd Shelf was mounted in Mobile Audio Rack. Non Rack Mount Audio Mixer needed a Shelf. We used (4) - 1 inch Velcro strips to strap wrap the Mixer to the Shelf. Perfect! This shelf is firm and stable. Vented Shelf was useful to dissipate heat in Wiring Closet and allowed strapping in Mobile Audio Rack to hold Non Rack Mount Audio Mixer. To eyeball strap location, on shelf for Mixer, we used Blue Painters Tape to layout sides of Mixer on Shelf. For mounting - We used different Rack Screws than what came with this Shelf - Raxxess PTSW25 Rack Screws with Washers (Pack of 25).

I like that these are sturdy, well ventilated and have a nice coat of paint. Note that the height is compromised because there's a lip in front to help with shelf strength. A 3.5" shelf really has only 3.25" of usable vertical space. Some nice metric mounting screws are included, but not the 10-32s you would find in traditional USA racks.

Needed another shelf for fiber box and router. This was perfect. It gave me additional depth and a solid platform. I did not mount it into a rack so I had to use other bolts to anchor it to the plywood.

I liked that the shelf was vented and sturdy. I also used tie-wraps to hold cabling and Items securly. The vent slots allowed for not only air flow but cable management. I would recommend and definantly purchace again if needed.

Overall this is an acceptable part. It's easy to install in a rack, and is pretty deep. That being said, keep in mind that there is NO back lip to catch things that might slip! The material is just metal, with no anti-slip covering. When I first started using mine I had a tablet almost slip off the back. Make sure you've got sturdy rubber feet or some kind of cover if you've got an angled rack like mine.

My server rack at work is an old 4-post telco rack with threaded posts. It's far less than ideal for mounting modern server rails and shelving but because it's already anchored to the floor and works, I'm not inclined to install a new rack unless it's absolutely necessary. This shelf works great for both modern server racks and the old telco racks where you may need to install a front or rear facing shelf to support equipment without having to buy a full shelf. For my use, I have a workstation that I wanted to have on the front of the rack only and didn't want to spend much money on it. With at least four screws in, this rack and the workstation sitting on it are rock solid.

For the noobs out here installing this to their first rack... make sure to install this the right way. you want the rack to have the fins on the side below whatever you're mounting. See my picture for how it's supposed to be mounted. Aside from not being documented well, this thing is extremely sturdy. Loving it so far.
