is this machine self propelled ?

No it is not. Take a look at the Hoover alternatives, not only is this not "self-propelled", there is no way to turn off the brush roll. The Hoovers are not self-propelled either, but you can turn off the brush roll. The Temp and the WindTunnel Plus are both cheaper and offer the same features with the addition of being able to stop the brush roll for bare floors.
