Don't buy this product if you expect your animal to be deterred.
This spray does absolutely NOTHING to deter pets from unwanted habits. We have sprayed the sofa, the kitchen counter, the dining room table, all of which our cat was caught in the act. She even settled down for a nap on a towel sprayed with the deterrent spray. It does absolutely nothing. A total waste of money. I would send it back and ask for a refund but I am disabled and would have a difficult time getting someone to take it to the drop off point.

I used this to help keep mice from my cupboard. 2 days later no mouse droppings.
Works well to help chase mice away.

Works Poorly
Urine, deodorize, soak with deterrent and next day urine again. May help but sure doesn't keep them away from my couch.

resistance.
works well for the most part. If you spray areas around your house once a day, early on for us, it will keep your cats from spraying. since we introduced a new cat into the house it's been hard on all of our existing cats trying to adapt. I don't blame him for acting out. Not at all. but it is destructive behavior and does need to be controlled if at all possible.

Effective Cat Training Deterrent
The Messy Pet Cat Training Deterrent Spray has been a game-changer for managing my cat's behavior. I would give it 4.5 stars, instead of 5, but rounding up is fine :) Pros: - Highly Effective: Successfully deters my cat from scratching or biting things. - Safe for Pets: The natural formula is safe for my cat and humans. - Versatile Use: Can be used on a variety of surfaces, including furniture, carpets, and curtains. - Easy to Apply: The spray bottle design makes application straightforward and mess-free. Cons: - Longevity: This deterrent is fast-acting, but doesn't last long on surfaces, in many cases I have to re-apply after 1 or 2 days. - Scent: The scent might be strong for some, but it dissipates quickly. Overall, the Messy Pet Cat Training Deterrent Spray is a fantastic product for anyone looking to train their cat and protect their home. Highly recommended!

Does not work like you'd expect. Not on an older cat.
I bought this spray because my SENIOR cat—I can already see the problem—was peeing right in front of our washing machine and other places. Never mind the fact that we built an entire cat patio for her on the side of our house. Think of a mother-in-law suite, but made of cedar wood with scratching posts, an auto feeder, and is outside with a cat door. She's not completely stupid, just lazy as hell. Anyway, I sprayed in all the places she's been known to pee multiple times a day so when she wandered around, she'd be deterred all day and forced outside. Granted, she's old, like your deaf 85 year old granny hobbling around with bent knees without a cane. "Anyone know where the bathroom is? I can't seem to remember." At this point, I'm tempted to buy a shock mat and a spike mat. Chill, all you overzealous animal lovers(coughhypocritecough), they're designed to shock them a bit(haha)and train them until it's no longer necessary.

Two of my cats couldn’t care less
One of my cats went right up to it, sniffed it intently, and followed the trail. I’m not sure if he liked it or not, but he clearly noticed something different. It’s hard to say if he disliked it since he seemed drawn to it before eventually walking away. As others have mentioned, the bottle is cheaply made and broke within seconds of using it, spilling everywhere. The scent isn’t overpowering, and while it doesn’t smell particularly good or bad, it made me nauseous both times I sprayed it. Then I tried it in another spot for my other cat. She moved away, though I think it was more because she doesn’t like the sound or sensation of spray. She’s blind and relies on scent, and within minutes, she returned to the same spot. I sprayed again, and she moved briefly but came back not long after. So far, it doesn’t seem to be working as intended. Granted, neither cat peed or scratched in those areas, BUT they still wanted to be there. That said, I don’t expect them to mark or scratch on command either, especially since it usually happens overnight or when I’m at work. When I’m home, they know better. So now, it’s a waiting game to see if this stuff actually deters them when I’m not around. But I am not hopeful considering what I’ve seen so far.
