How do you erase the pages?

Hi Amelia! When you "paint" the pages with water, the colors magically appear. When the water dries, the pages go back to being white...ready to be "painted" again!!!

Is this bpa, pvc, phalates and lead free?

Package states: "Melissa & Doug products meet or exceed U.S. testing standards and pass our high quality requirements." They also state, "We care about your comments. Please call us! Melissa & Doug 1-800-284-3948." Another statement, "Conforms to ASTM D4236". There is no mention of bpa, pvc, phalates and lead.

Science behind why the water changes it to colored?

The picture is covered with a thin layer of a white material that reveals the colors when wet. If you scratch you can remove the white layer and will see the pic under.
