Women's 1950s Vintage Cocktail Party Swing Dress Cap-Sleeve

I'm 5'8" and curvy and weigh just shy of 200lbs. The XXL fit perfectly and sits above my knee cap so I'm nervous it's too short for my age (I'm 46). I have a similar dress bought off Amazon (different vendor) and get compliments from EVERYONE so I thought I'd get this with the cap sleeve. I usually order dresses to fit my curves off a custom-made dress website and needed a cheaper alternative. Bought this to test this brand and it does not disappoint! It fits GREAT. You cannot beat a cute cotton adorable dress for this price! I cannot attest to the wash-and-wear part of casual dressing since I just got it, but I plan on washing in cold water, delicate and line drying.

The fabric is beautiful and the dress is very well made. More than worth the money, but it is WAY TOO SMALL. I ordered an XXL and I wear a 16 in US sizes. Even for a garment made in China, it's very small. Its about 4 or more full sizes too small. Im only 5'2' tall and it falls an inappropriate 4 inches above my knee and lacks about 6 inches from being able to zip. Its a really lovely garment and a beautiful print, I wish I could keep it. The dress is a girls XXL, this cant be an adult (or even missy) size.

The pattern is exactly as pictured, crisp white with an elegant blue victorian pattern. I love the little cap sleeves. They dont bind or pinch at all on me and I wouldnt say my arms are "fit." My measurements are 38-34-46. In a pear shaped size 12, 5 foot tall, 155lbs. So these style of flared dresses do a nice job of modestly concealing my big hips! This dress comes just a few inches below my knee so most taller gals would be knee length for you. I could fit the L but it was a littme snug in the waist, while the XL gave me waist room but was too large in the bust. The material has some stretch so the L wasnt too tight for comfort. I ended up returning because of the neckline for though. I tried both the large and the XL but both had the same problem, although was better with the large. This dress has wide shoulders. I do not. So the slightly boat neckline wouldnt lay flat and kept puckering in the middle. It wasnt too bad in the large but the XL would have required alteration if I kept it. So thats why I gave it r stars and returned. The fit isnt great for a petite frame but with some minor alteration, it is a very nice dress. The fabric isn't cheap or scratchy and really looks more exoensive than it is.

I am so delighted with my purchase! I bought this in three patterns and loved each one. It for a tad larger than I expected, but I was also compensating for the fact there was no stretch and I was worried the sizing would run a big small. Once belted, though, the minor amount of extra fabric is not an issue at all and the overall look is just darling. The dresses are well-made and fit very nicely and I love all of the patterns available. I'm really so stoked that everything went so well -- buying dresses (or any clothing!) online can be tricky, but this really worked out well!

Pretty fabric... but the waist is super high, like just under my breasts. And I'm already short-waisted. So there's no way I can wear this, and because it arrived a few days before a trip, by the time I was back from my trip (which I had to take without my new dress), I was past the window to return it. So now I'm stuck with a dress no woman can wear. I've ordered similar dresses from other companies and never had a problem with fit before; but won't order from this company again.I had to choose "fit as expected" because it was not too large or too small--just not shaped like a person. It definitely did not fit "as expected."

I used the manufacturer's size chart (shown along the left side with the alternate images of the dress) in order to select the size rather than using the Amazon chart. I would normally wear a medium but the manufacturer's chart recommended a large. I am glad I purchased the large because the fit was perfect! Very flattering and not too tight. The waistline sash accentuates the look. Although I purchased a petticoat to wear underneath, I like the look without one and would say that it isn't necessary. I was impressed by the high quality of the material and craftsmanship. I highly recommend this dress!

I do want to say that this is a very pretty dress. It appears to be well-made and I like that it has actual facings rather than bias around the neck and armholes. It has a tie belt, which I didn't bother trying. It was way too big for me, even though I somewhat match the sizing. XXL sizing is for 38 bust 34 waist. I measure 39 bust (C-cup), 31.5 waist and I was able to pull a couple inches over in the back. Didn't even bother zipping it up. I ordered a size down and it didn't fit right either. I'm 5'1" and short-waisted; the waistline was in the right place and the hem came to just below my knee. I was expecting it to be more mid-calf. The fabric is a very pretty mid-weight; it's also very stretchy--quite a bit stretchier than most stretch wovens, which might help with the fit for some.

LOVE THIS DRESS!!! Perfect for easter, church, date night, halloween costume, wedding, baby shower, I can go on and on! Beautiful dress! Definitely going to buy more! Only problem I have is, normally I wear a small or medium in all my other clothes, so I ordered a medium in this dress. It fit good every BUT my boobs, lol completely squashed them flat! After reading their size chart I realized I should have ordered a Lg or Xlg sense Im a 36C. Im also 5'2" and 130 lbs
