This came as described they're quite large they were perfect for holding my daughter's hair in as well if you want to clip up a few pieces up top and not the rest of it. They were even cheaper buying this way then going to the dollar store I would recommend if you are looking for a bigger clip that holds more hair

Theyre definitely 3" but theyre also wide. So be aware of the size because it doesnt really give you the sense of the enormity in the product description or pictures. If you are using this with hair that is fine and not much thickness/volume, then this might be too heavy/big and it will fall off . The clip itself is strong as you'd normally expect. I cant knock the product because it is what it says it is.... huge :) just be aware.
