Pictures look great but recipes are just 'good'
So far I've made the potato salad, which was 'good'. Not great. The mac n cheese which was pretty good, and the best I've made so far. However, I made the fried chicken and it was so horrible. It was the worst chicken I've ever made :( I had my bf try it. He didn't know what to say. He didn't like it either and asked why I didn't make it the way I usually do. (I'm not from the south so this was my first time with 'southern fried chicken' I was really embarrassed and ashamed at how this chicken turned out. The texture of the crust, the strange taste, and everything. Even after letting it soak in the brine for 24 hours and then using all the oil for frying. It was so much effort to make something that was so not good. I must need to go to someone's gramma's house to get a proper recipe for southern fried chicken bc that wasn't it.

Yes! A Caribbean role bending chef we can get behind! Initial impression of this book, it gave me serious comic book vibes. The bright colors make you feel so alive, a true work of art. I absolutely love the homage to the recipes. This isn’t “just another cookbook” on the stand people. You’re practically getting two, a cookbook and the chef personified.Also I’ve already made the Mac and cheese recipe which is now my absolute FAVORITE everyone wanted seconds! thirds forths and fifths!
