Let The Stories Begin
Do you have a dog? If you had a dog what would you name it?Tha author, Randy Cecil, has written a lovely, thoughtful book about about three characters who all have needs, and how they came to help each other. We meet a lost little dog looking for a family, we meet Eleanor Wische, a little girl wishing for a dog,and we meet Sam Wische, Eleanor's father, who likes to juggle but has stage fright. None of these characters knows the others wishes, and when you read this book you will learn how they may help each other.Parents and adults will enjoy reading this book to their children, and children who can read will enjoy reading this book. This is a book with lessons to be learned, and it is important that each of us realize that. The book is told with some repetition, but this is a good way to remember what occurs, and how important it is to observe. The illustrations are done in black and white ink, and they depict the storyline so well. I went down those streets with Lucy, Eleanor and Sam. Such a great book for a class to read and go discuss what has been said and done. The children and adults can relate the character's experiences to their own.Recommended. prisrob 08-27-16

Unusual(ly long)
This is a unique book for young readers. It's quite long (140+ pages), but with only a line of two of text on most pages, and pictures on each page. It's interesting the way the story weaves together the three different perspectives, and the ending is quite charming. I do like the book, but honestly I bought it mostly for its ability to introduce new facets of literature to young children (appreciation of longer and more complicated books, differing perspectives and narratives weaving together to form a whole, etc), and for that it's quite good.

Wonderful book!
Great story with lovely illustrations! I read it to my 6 year old and 3 year old granddaughters on Skype. It's great because each page has just one or two sentences and a picture so it works well for this setting.

Perfect!
Perfect in every way! The illustration style sucks you right in as if you're in a movie theatre, and the story has the perfect balance of suspense, humor, and pathos that will appeal to young children.

Good book
This was just a simply written, sweet story. There are alot of pages but it is easy to follow so my kid didn't get discouraged. Good buy.

as described
Good chapter book for students who might shy away from reading chapter books when they see a lot of text on the page.

Nice hardback book. I refuse to open it all the way so that when my grandchildren receive them Christmas they truly will be brand new books.
