I'm quite satisfied with this faceplate chuck. The build quality is exceptional, and it is sturdy and well-balanced. Use was a easy, and the secure grip was great. I've used it on various woodworking projects, and they've consistently performed flawlessly. Highly recommend!

Very good product

I ordered this faceplate so I could use a 2 inch forstner bit to make a flat mounting area on wood blanks. The first flaw I noticed was that the faceplate is about 1/32 of an inch bigger than 2 inches. This means I had to move blank around on the drill press to widen the flat spot so the faceplate would fit. After that, the faceplate worked perfectly until I went to remove it from the headstock. It was at that point I found that the collar of this faceplate has no flattened areas to slip a wrench on to loosen it from the headstock. I ended up having to use a vise grips to remove it. It worked but over time doing this will damage the outside of the collar. That damage to the collar will be only cosmetic, but over time it's going to get pretty rough looking. Overall, for the price, I think this item is a decent value. But, I hope others will see this review and know what they are getting in to.

So far it seems fine. It fit well no play and the price is hard to beat.

Positive feature is that the machining appears very true, and the face plate is definitely flat and perpendicular to the threaded shank. This is the second one I bought. We live in a Resort which has a very nice woodshop. I like having my own lathe flange, as occasionally I need to bring my work home with more lathe work to do later, and remounting could result in some mis-alignment. The only negative I have is that the steel is not plated. I'm getting some surface rust on my earlier unit. Still fully functional, but not as neat.

Care must be taken to tighten the discs completely
