Great value & healthy + Similar to PlaqueOff
I bought this for: 1) Dental Hygiene 2) General Health 3) Prevent stool eating (from mineral deficiencies) ProDen PlaqueOff used to list its main ingredient (Ascophyllum Nodosum) before they rebranded and hid the ingredient name to PlaqueOff. This product is similar, if not exactly the same, as PlaqueOff for a FRACTION of the price. This product might actually be superior in quality since this is USDA certified organic and packaged in the USA. I also tasted this, and it seems to be human-grade quality. You can get human kelp for cheaper, but having a guaranteed analysis was important to me. I give my dog half of the recommended amount because I am extra cautious. Kelp contains iodine (which is good for health), but too much can potentially lead to thyroid issues. I purchased this 10 months ago, and I still have about 1/3 left. This definitely helped reduce inflammation and redness in gums, but for plaque and tartar you have to put in some work for best results. Don't expect immediate results- the kelp needs to be absorbed into the body for weeks/months, and then the body slowly produces a reaction to soften & breakdown the tartar/plaque so that it can be brushed off. Folks, dental health is SO IMPORTANT. It can add or remove years of your pet's life. Even if your pet's teeth are clean on the surface thanks to products like this, you still need to brush your pet's teeth and get dental cleanings because dental infections are in the roots (not visible) & pets are good at hiding pain. Infections can go down the bloodstream to slowly damage the heart and organs. Nothing on the market beats dental cleanings, and non-anesthetic dental cleanings aren't effective since vets can't clean under the teeth. My 10 year old dog with elevated liver values had a dental cleaning (after clean bloodwork), and even with regular brushing and daily dental chews, she had to get 2 teeth extracted. I bought this product to try and prolong the dental cleaning effects, and it seems to be slowing down the formation of tartar.

Noticeable Improvements in my Chihuahua's Health and Well-Being
My Chihuahua likes the taste of this kelp product. I sprinkle it on her food daily. I've noticed an improvement in her breath and digestion. Her coat has begun to shine and it has helped reduce shedding. I like that it's USDA certified. I'm looking forward to the continued benefits of the nutrients and trace minerals of this high quality certified organic product for my pup.

Your dog will thank you
Great product! I can’t personally attest to the flavor because I give it to my dogs (with a little water over their kibble at meal time), but they seem to love it. It smells strongly of the sea as one might expect. It has definitely helped my dogs’ breath ...and they are cat poop eaters, so that’s some intense odor. One of my rescue dogs had crazy bad breath when I adopted him. Now I can kiss his muzzle and not smell a thing. Maybe that sounded weird, but my point is I can be up close to him and not pass out from his bad breath. So that benefit alone is worth the price. I first bought the 1.5 lb bag but moved up to the larger size and religiously give my dogs 1/2 - 1 tsp, depending on their weight, every day. I also give them Nutiva Organic hemp seed oil. I’ve noticed a MAJOR change in my oldest dog’s agility. She was having hip problems: clicking when walking, and trouble sitting/going up stairs. It seemed surgery was in her future. I was terrified and did a LOT of research in hopes of finding some natural approaches to ease her discomfort in the meantime. I came across this sea kelp ...and Nutiva organic hemp seed oil. I am convinced this combo is MUCH better than fish oil for omega 3s & 6s. Plus you don’t have to worry about overprocessing or rancidity the way you have to with fish oil. (My dogs eat a lamb based diet. I've read you need to be careful with the omega balance If you feed them chicken, so please do your own research.) After less than two weeks on these new, natural supplements (full disclosure, my dog was already on Cosequin) I noticed a marked difference in her mobility. It honestly made me weep with joy. She was able to sit comfortably and the scary clicking sound while she was walking stopped completely. That was back in April. She occasionally has her random stiff days, but I can tell she is no longer in pain. She runs freely when she gets the zoomies and can go up and down the stairs or jump on the sofa at will, and join the others on longer walks again. Please consider these supplements if your dog has arthritis or skin conditions...or poopy breath! It works. And it’s so much easier and safer and CHEAPER than surgery. I regularly take my dogs to the vet and she’s been happily surprised by their progress too.

A fantastic supplement for dogs that has so many great health benefits! We've been using it for years now and love it!
We've been buying this same brand of organic ocean kelp for years now but had been buying it at a local natural pet store in 8 oz bags. purchasing this big 5 pound bag is definitely the way to go for us! Kep is good for dogs for so many reasons. The reason we started buying it was for our dogs' teeth. Mud Bay, the local pet store we had been buying it at, has it in the teeth cleaning section of the store so we asked about it. They highly recommended it to help keep our dogs' teeth clean as they had heard great things about it. It also helps freshen their breath. It smells kind of fishy but their breath doesn't smell fishy after eating it. They LOVE the taste of it! I sprinkle it on top of their food at breakfast time and, since I add, water, pumpkin, and some other things to their food, it sticks very nicely. Some of the other benefits of giving your dog kelp are: 1. Kelp is known for being iodine rich and thyroid problems, in humans and dogs, are often related to an iodine deficiency. Iodine has been used for a very long time to medically treat thyroid problems. Because it's so rich in iodine, kelp is the perfect supplement to keep your furry friend's entire glandular system (especially the thryroid, pituitary, and adrenal glands in healthy working order. In turn, your dog will have a great metabolism and it will be easier to maintain a healthy weight. 2. Studies have shown that help greatly reduces the amount of fleas on a dog if there is an infestation. We use topical flea treatments but love that the kelp also helps keep them away. 3. Keop also helps support many of your dog's other bodily functions. It cleans the digestive system and fortifies the blood (due to it's high iron content), which helps the heart to pump more efficiently. 4. It's great to give to older dogs to help strengthen their immune systems and protect them from a wide range of diseases. The amino acids help to repair tissue so dogs taking kelp tend to heal faster. Kelp can actually help both you and your dog live longer so start supplementing your dog with this kelp and find a good kelp for humans so you can start taking it as well!! I have only listed some of the benefits but there are many many more I didn't even touch on. Just a really great supplement that I highly recommend and feel really good about giving to our dogs! The ingredient list is nice and short and contains one ingredient: Dried organic kelp. No additives at all. It is ecologically and sustainably harvested from the pure, unpolluted, remote reaches of Northern Iceland. You can get an idea of what the kelp looks like from my somwhat blurry pic (sorry, I tried) and the other pic is 6 of our 7 dogs who love and get all the great benefits of this kelp! Okay, and Kaya, can't leave her out <3 And the last pic is of the kelp sprinkled on 2 of their bowls of food.

My dog loves it
I tried this once and it helped keep my dog's breath nice and fresh. You only need a small scoop (comes with the item) with each meal therefore this lasts for a few months. It also has digestive benefits but I use another product for that so I am not sure how much of the benefits can be attributed to this product. Hard to say. The smell is like a fresh seaweed so it's not too bad. It reminds me of the ocean each time I open the lid. I cannot comment on its taste as I didn't try it (obviously!) I wouldn't use it as a pain reliever as that is not the intended use. All in all, a good product to include as part of your pet's daily diet.

Great product!
We have been using this product for 4 years now every day in my pups food as the pet store said it was very good for keeping his teeth clean in addition to the micro nutrients it provides. His Vet always comments how clean his teeth are (we don't brush). We are going to start brushing, at least occasionally, as I didn't realize we should be doing this, now that he's getting older. I don't know if it has a taste to it, my pup has never refused food it was sprinkled on but I imagine it has a slight fishy taste to it. Has no smell to me anyway.

Cat indigestion and gingivitis
I've been using this for over a year (1/2 scoop per cat/per day) and I don't notice a difference BUT I think that means it's helping to maintain their "normal" health. HEAR ME OUT: I have one cat with a very sensitive stomach and one cat who developed gingivitis at 4 months and is still battling it today. Though this seaweed is an addition to their regiment, so I can't say it's the only thing that helped, BUT both have fewer problems coming out of both ends. I know it MIGHT help with their coats and gums too but it probably varies with cat/diet as one of my cats still struggles with dandruff and (I suspect) the other one might have internal issues with plaque/gingivitis so they're still struggling with those issues. Of course, this isn't some magic seaweed and a cure-all solution. I think it's definitely worth a try. Plus, the quality of the seaweed seems great (no discoloration, bugs, or unknown growth even after daily opening of jar, no strong smell), I have more than 1/2 a jar left, and my picky cats eat their food with this mixed in no problem.
