Excellent book. It’s the perfect reference book. I can’t imagine what life would have been like if it had been available when I was first diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis.

I found this book just few days after my diagnosis and it was comforting to read. It made me feel less alone. And I like her approach of medicine AND food/lifestyle/exercise. I am curious to try the recepies, but in general I can already say I found this very valuable.

I have M.E. and Rheumatoid Arthritis and have long been aware that a healthier diet might help inflammatory conditions and I used to drink green tea by the bucket load which had benefits, but I became complacent with my food choices and ate everything. After a recent major flare up with swelling, stiffness and lots of pain, out of desperation I was looking for guidance and I bought this book on Kindle just to see if it was any good but it is SO good I bought it twice!! The print version is so useful to have to hand to refer to and flick through over and over again. There is so much great information that you want/need to know, without having to wade through a lot of stuff. Although detailed, it is straight to the point, accessible and written in such a nice down to earth way, it's a pleasure to read. I have really appreciated all of the detailed info. which has clearly been so thoroughly researched by Emily. Making dietary/lifestyle changes can sometimes feel daunting but this book is great for making the first small steps, suggesting easy alternative foods to what you might usually eat, so you can start right off with making changes and then gradually become more savvy about the ingredients best to avoid in favour of more beneficial choices, even with shop bought items. I am looking at the ingredients labels on everything now! There are lots of lovely recipes, but I feel that you can take as much from this book as you want to, or are ready to, at your own pace. If you feel ill and in pain, cooking from scratch is not always possible and you need something easy and quick to prepare, but this book has been invaluable to me for guidance and ideas about different foods/ingredients to try. I am actually enjoying my food more as I am trying new flavours and have opened my mind to new things that I didn't even know about. There are also tips about various therapies, supplements or means of pain management that may come in useful. I can feel physical improvements after about 5 or 6 weeks so I am definitely going to continue with my dietary changes . I would recommend this book to anyone really - whether you have a health condition or not - as it's so informative about the effects various foods/ingredients can have on the body, so it would be a good read for anyone. Thank you Emily!

If you have just been diagnosed with an arthritic condition or wish to complement your treatment with home remedies, Johnson's book is a fabulous starting point! Her book is a comprehensive, well researched and inspiring guide book for natural aids to help you through your sleepless, painful and mentally exhausting journey. Her sources are sound, the list of recipes delicious (I have already tried a few) and it's great to have a book that I can leaf through and pick up for advice as and when I need it!

I have Osteoarthritis and pretty much housebound, so I thought I'd read this. From what I have read it's very informative, but got somewhat depressed as some of the things I cannot do. The only thing that will sort me out is surgery. The recipes are nice, I've tried a few.
