Treasury of Greek Mythology: Classic Stories of Gods, Goddesses, Heroes & Monsters (National Geographic Treasuries) Review: Perfect for the curious 9 year old - My daughter asked for a Greek mythology book for Christmas. I looked into many different ones; most were pretty vague or didn’t cover the classical gods. Others were too descriptive in the “distractions” of the gods. National Geographic is something I read as a child so I was thrilled to find their take on it. It’s a massive tome. Complete with a family tree of sorts and the Roman interpretations of each god. This is by far one of her favorites as well. She Carrie’s it to school often and is quoting it to her Grandfather most evenings. Well written and easy to understand for children her age I’ve had a few parents ask where I found it. The art work is stunning; also done in the way you’d see Greek/ Roman frescos. I have a feeling that this book will be in our family a very long time. Review: Mostly Kid-Friendly, Beautiful! - The book is engaging in two ways: stories that are just the right length/depth, and beautiful artwork! I bought this for classroom use with elementary students, hoping to find something interesting, but PG. This book has met that need so far! The only nude images are pages 75, 127, and 163, and they are all small images so I was able to color over them with sharpie. Content-wise, the myths I've read have been appropriate without compromising the overall idea.

Very nice book and illustrations. Bought it for my 2nd grade classroom. Might be appropriate for older kids, but not 7 year olds.

Incredibly beautiful book
This is such a beautiful book. I read the entire thing in one sitting. The illustrations are amazing. Everyone with kids of any age needs this book in their home library. We all need to learn about all cultures and all religions and Greek mythology is something every kid should know. Also, this book is HUGE. It’s a really big lovely book with captivating illustrations. I highly recommend it.

Bought this as a Christmas present for my grown up daughter alongside the Robert Graves one. Got this because it looked so gorgeously visual that I thought she would find it inspiring and a wonderful way into Greek mythology which she has been showing great interest in recently. We were not disappointed - it is fantastic ! The artwork and presentation is truly stunning - vibrant - jumps off the page at you. Our daughter has already done a piece of artwork of her own in response to it. It also lays out the stories in a chronological order which makes them easier to follow and provides some useful charts, inset background explanations and 'big picture' pages including a 'who's who' near the end. This is a vivid and imaginative way to enter the world of Greek mythology - for a child or an adult.

My 7-year-old loved this book. The stories are short, but detailed enough to paint the complete picture. Nice photos. I would recommend it for any young one interested in mythology or interesting stories.
