Great pure tung penetrating oil that hardens but leaves no layer on top of wood. Strong smell for about a week but I'm very happy with the surface on a table top after several years of heavy use. No change to colour of wood but makes the surface water proof and a subtle wet look. This is different and for some cases better than a lot of the "tung oil" mixes that have solvents and lacquers built in.

This Tung Oil worked beautifully on my MAVOTER acacia meat serving boards. It absorbs evenly, brings out the natural grain, and leaves a smooth, rich finish without feeling greasy. The boards look refreshed and better protected after just a couple of coats. A great choice if you want a natural, food‑safe oil that really enhances and protects acacia wood.

While Hope's brand is performing well, this is really an endorsement for any high-purity tung oil as a finish on open-pore bare wood. I've used it on oak recently and on teak as long ago as 35 years. It forms a hard, long-lasting finish that resides both in and on the surface, especially when more than one coat is applied. Applying it is not the least bit fussy; spread it evenly with an absorbent pad and wipe off whatever isn't absorbed after an hour or so. When I've prepped the surface with 240-grit Abranet, the finish seems to glow with a sheen but not a shine. Tung oil adds a bit of golden color that darkens with additional coats but not with age. The 35-year-oid teak, used indoors, has not darkened at all. I think the appearance of this finish could hardly be more pleasing. All this said, I wouldn't expect tung oil to perform well on dense wood like maple that hasn't the capacity to absorb the oil into the surface. Since tung oil cures by polymerizing, it doesn't age well after its container has been opened. Use it soon after opening or decant unused oil into a smaller container. It has only a very light smell I find quite pleasant. It dissipates quickly with curing. I have no reservation about applying tung oil in a closed room.

This tung oil is top notch! Not a tung oil finish with other chemicals or agents added.

It arrived on time. Husband was pleased when he used it on his wood work.
