Works great
This product did an amazing job. I tried every tool I had to hollow out a large oak stump to use as a planter. It was very difficult and I thought I would never get it finished. This tool with an angle grinder was the trick. I finished my project in 1 weekend. It produced a lot more fine sawdust than I was expecting. A good respirator type mask and goggles should definitely be used. Be very careful attaching it to your grinder. Definitely use some grease and consider getting the Kutzall special flange nut and wrench. I was unable to remove it after I finished my project. It was very difficult to get a standard spanner wrench in there due to the shape of the cutting blade. Their customer service is nonexistent. Never got a reply to my questions.

In a class by itself. This tooth design is the best wood shaping wheel I've come across.
I'm using this to shape walking sticks and canes, but am considering bigger projects after seeing how easy it can be to remove wood with some precision. It removes a lot of material with great control. I press very lightly and it chews effortlessly. If you press down, it cuts quick, and I've overdone it a few times by mistake. If you are carving bears from logs or something you might go with the medium, but I have the medium, and this is fine grit is the one I would keep if I could only have one. This is not "Fine" like sand paper, think 30 grit or so. This will make your wood rasp a touch up tool. They now make the "Fine" in the flatter design, and that actually may be preferable for some applications if you need to leave more level surfaces sometimes. At $60, it is pricey, but when you can work this fast and accurately, it is more than doubling my speed working with wood, with little effort and lots more joy, so it pays for the extra cost very quickly. It makes it feel like I'm doing art vs. work. You just have to exert enough force to hold you angle grinder and the wheel does the rest . I've actually just been putting my angle grinder in my wood vice and using it like a bench grinder to great effect. I've loaded it up a few times in spots with some damp wood or green pithy wood, but as suggested, a propane blow torch cleans it quick with a wire brush to touch up. In addition, this thing seems like it will last forever, saving the time of changing wheels, or buying new wheels. On a final note, this leaves wood more smooth than the "medium", as you would expect, but is close in amount of wood it removes due to having more teeth I would guess. I'll update later as I use them both more. Both are great. WEAR GLOVES. I removed a chunk skin from my finger in a split second. Sanding disks can be a bit forgiving, this is not.

This thing is so good
Amazing tool, easy to use and work with, I thought it was going to be something that would be too effective and I would need to learn how to handle it properly but really it is almost intuitive how it works. I went from using a cheaper tool that left a scratched and rough surface and this one leaves one that you barely even need to sand if you're slow and careful enough. That being said the name KutzAll is a good name, this thing doesn't care if its wood or your fingers, I got a little careless with it and it removed a bit of my thumb for it, so do be careful it works like they say it does.

Kutzall Extreme Shaping Dish works well, however.............
I purchased the Kutzall Extreme Shaping Dish which I’ve used this about a dozen times on White Birch, Yellow Birch, Ash and Black Ash. It does a good job removing material if you don’t have a lathe and the price is decent. **However, I must warn you that the amount of dust that is created when using the Kutzall Extreme Shaping Dish is incredibly overwhelming. For example, I am only able to use this for about five minutes at a time because of the massive amount of fine dust that is an extreme irritant on the eyes and lungs. I tried three (3) different safety glasses and three (3) different masks/respirators (all highly rated for woodworking/dust) and NONE of them could satisfactorily keep the dust out. After about five minutes, you’ll need to wash out your eyes and walk/run away to get fresh/clean air. To that point, this is an OUTDOOR tool and I would not recommend anyone to use this indoors because of severe dust contamination. For example, I carved out a birch, 10-inch bowl outside in the yard and the dust was so thick that when it settled on the ground, the grass wouldn’t grow until I raked it over and re-seeded that portion of my lawn. This all from a single 10-inch bowl! I would recommend, for safety purposes, to ONLY use this with an oxygen supplied face shield/respirator while outdoors! These types breathing apparatuses start at about $250 without the oxygen!

Easy, smooth carving tool
I practiced with flap disks and other carving tools on maple first. Then I used this kutzall on walnut to shape two high chair seats! It literally shaped the walnut like it was spreading butter! Love this shaping dish! A tad expensive but worth it.

Worth every penny!
It's worth spending the extra money!! I first got one of the cheap knockoffs and it would kickback every chance it got, also because it would always kickback, it would tighten itself to the point I had to actually cut it off my grinder which in turn ruined my grinder!! Spent a little extra money and got a kutzall disk and you really get what you pay for! The kutzall disk is soooo much better!! Less kickback, less clogging, easier to remove, and it has yet to try and kill me (story for another day) it also just eats the woods! It's like the extreme flair burr on steroids.

Good build. Strong and robust. I will have to get the extra coarse though to remove large amounts.
