Click Here for Trailer Anyone can drive fast. Only one driver can be the fastest. It takes nerve, skill, and the right car - and Takumi's got all three. His rep as a dominating downhill racer is growing, but when he's invited to drive for an all-star team that could change the face of local racing, Takumi's got to beat his stiffest competition before he'll join their ranks - himself. With graduation approaching, his classmates drift toward uncertain futures. For Takumi, looking ahead means putting as many challengers in his rearview mirror as he can. If he can prove to himself that he's ready, the next stage is waiting, and it's all downhill from here. Review: Intial D, enough said! - This is the third stage to the Initial D series. It is a movie, not episodes. I wouldn't say it's awesome but you most definitely still must see if you are a die hard Initial D watcher. Like my other review, I'm just waiting for them to come out on Blu Ray. Review: Finally the version we've been waiting for. - This is finally the way Initial D should have been released initially. The voice actors are well chosen (with one or two exceptions) and the producers didn't take out the original music/try to "Americanize" it. Well worth the buy for any fan of the series. It's finally time to lift the boycott.

Loved It.
Stage 3 of Initial D does justice to the series. Many Anime movies are always different from the main plotline of the series and that is why they somewhat fall short of the expectations of the fans. The Initial D motion picture does not follow this trend. Stage 3 builds off the first two seasons of the anime with an excellent sense of style and flair. The animation is crip and clean, and the voice acting from both the Japanese and the Funimation dubbed is top rate. The story once again revolves around Takumi. Takumi and Itsuki are about to graduate high school and must make major decisions in their lives from here on out. The movie focuses a lot on the romantic relationship Takumi has with Natsuki. At the beginning of the movie Takumi is upset at Natsuki from events that had occured in the first two seasons of the anime. Their relationship builds and hits a climax through the film. Another side plot is Ryosuke Takahashi asking Takumi to join a special racing team that would travel throughout Japan to challenge other racers (Leads into Stage 4). Takumi must make a decision on whether or not he is interested in joining this team, what to do with his relationship with Natsuki, and venture into his inner soul to determine what exactly makes him who he is. During the movie Takumi encounteres racing challenges from various foes. Including the son of his father's rival. Takumi also has his rematch with Kyochui Sudo toward the beginning of the movie. Everyone makes a cameo in the film that were in the previous two seasons....Kesiuke, Kenta, Shinjo, Itsuki, Kenji, Iketani, Nakazato, Seji, Kyochui Sudo, and of course Mako and Sayuki. The soundtrack for the film is above average, the animation is crips and clean, the character development is fantastic. There is romance. There is style and substance (Minor details like Sudo's tinted windows). If you enjoy Initial D buy this movie and enjoy it. It is a continuation from Stage 1 and Stage 2. All of my favorite scenes in the movie involve Natsumi and Takumi....and the best one involves BUNTA!!!

Initial D 3rd Stage - Great prelude to the 4th stage
We can feel blessed with the release of 3rd and 4th stage of INITIAL D, one of my favorite anime of all time. This OVA resolves so much of the conflicts that happened in 2nd stage and its an amazing prelude to 4th stage. The plot is all about the development of TAKUMI as a street racer, he is invited by RYOSUKE TAKAHASHI to form a special street racing team called PROJECT D, a scout team that will compete in every prefecture in Japan and set a new record for the track, all in less than one year; writing a new street racing legend all over Japan. TAKUMI still feels insecure about his abilities and decides to look for KYOUICHI SUDOU in Irohazaka pass, leader of the TEAM EMPEROR and the only driver that has beaten TAKUMI on a race. That race and a new challenge from the son of a former rival of TAKUMI's father, BUNTA; will set the pace of an incredible race. Also resolved are the problems between TAKUMI and NATSUKI, balancing the action with a little bit of drama and romance. The quality of the DVD is good, and the video is LETTERBOXED (4:3 aspect ratio with black bars to simulate widescreen), not true WIDESCREEN; something that i really disliked because the picture would looked great on my TV set. Even with this little detail, the DVD is worth its price.

About the show, not the DVD quality
I have this on Netflix and absolutely love it! This really is a MUST see if you want to continue watching! It explains how things happened with Takumi's relationship with Mogi and how he became a part of Project D transitioning from one season to the next. I watched the movie last and was not happy that I didn't watch it in the right order. Great movie, MUST WATCH. Also, you can get into this even if you're NOT into cars!!

Initial D Done Right.
I've been through two Chinese bootleg copies of Initial D Third Stage, so buying a legit version of it as soon as it was released was a safe bet. The picture quality is great (I've watched it multiple times already), and the English voiceover cast already blows the Tokyopop Initial D cast out of the water. This is Initial D as it was meant to be. No ridiculous changes to the dialogue or plot. No cheesy music replacing the actual soundtrack. No awful visual effects that serve no purpose. For that reason alone, it's worth every penny. If you're an Initial D fan, support the cause. FUNimation is doing a good thing for us.
