Can you recommend cartridge brands that you have tested and that work perfectly with your pens?

Your pen accepts International Standard Size cartridges (both short and long versions). We recommend purchasing cartridges from high quality brands. We have tested the following and all fit perfectly: • MontBlanc • Schneider • Waterman • Pelikan • Kaweco • Monteverde • Caran d’Ache • Stabilo • Helix Oxford • Diamine • Beaufort The following cartridges claim to be “International Standard Size” but either are not (they DO NOT fit) or they work poorly. Please do not buy these cartridges for your Scriveiner pen: • Dryden • Monaggio • Jinhao Parker Quink cartridges do not fit your Scriveiner pen. (They are a different size format.)

do you need to remove the converter to use a cartridge?

Yes, if you want to use a cartridge you unscrew the converter and set it aside. The converter is only if you want to use bottled ink (in which case, you don't need cartridges). We supply a comprehensive instruction/warranty booklet through the Amazon messaging system. However, some customers block seller communications so they don't receive it. Can you get in touch through the messaging system or via our website (Scriveiner)? We'll then send it to you.

Is cleaning this pen necessary? I’m new to fountain pens and I wondered if I need to do anything special after use to clean the nib/cartridge?

Hi! Fountain pen inks are water-based. Over time, the water will evaporate from the ink, leaving only the dye or pigment. With a cartridge, the ink must flow down through the feed and nib. With this, it's a good practice to clean the pen. Flushing or cleaning a fountain pen only takes a few minutes. This cleans the nib and feed and keeps the ink flowing properly, as well as remove any particle build-up. We send instruction manuals via Amazon messaging system. We also have a video tutorial.
