My First Book of Russian Words (Bilingual Picture Dictionaries) (English and Russian Edition)

This is an amazing book to use. I married into a Russian speaking family and wanted to learn the language to communicate better with my in-laws and my wife's grandparents. Not knowing a single word of Russian this was the perfect book to start with as it has the words written out in Russian and spells out the correct pronunciation in English for you. It also has pictures next to each word to let you know what you are saying/talking about. This will not teach you the entire language but an excellent starter book for all beginners

I bought this book for myself (64-year old grandma). I have an interest in the Russian language, and this attractive, brightly-colored book caught my eye.This book has helped to lessen my intimidation a liitle. This is a good baby step for me to become acquainted with the Russian alphabet and simple Russian words.

This book is great! I purchased this for a friend’s baby and it turned out to be a gift that was great for baby and grandma. Grandma learned English while baby learned Russian. Would buy again!!

I bought this book to teach my three year old some Foreign vocabulary words. The book has lots of colorful photos, all clearly labeled with English words and a phonetic pronunciation. The phonetic pronunciations are all pretty accurate, but there are some that are slightly off, but not enough to worry that you (or your child) is mispronouncing the word and saying something a native speaker would find embarrassing. If you have never studied the language of the book you are buying, be sure you are familiar with phonetic pronunciations like those you would find in a dictionary, or you might be frustrated trying to figure out exactly how to say the word. I bought the Russian, German, and Italian versions of this book, which is nice, because they all contain the same basic pictures and vocabulary. All are some of my three year old's favorite books.

I originally bought this because I was pregnant but I recently miscarried. I loved how simple and well made it was, I'm keeping it as a review and to teach my boyfriend :) I love the that the words are in Cyllic alphabet and the pronunciations are right underneath.

Bought this book for non-Russian speaking friends per their request. And being a Russian myself it was so adorable reading/looking through the pages before giving it as a gift. I wanted to make sure that every word has a transcription on how to pronounce it (i.e корова (korova) - cow) in Russian, and this book does! Definitely a great book for someone who doesn't know any Russian and just wants to learn some vocabulary.

Cute book. One of my students begged to study it so that he could learn at least a few Russian words. The pictures and words are very colorful and easy to understand.

I LOVE this book! The photos are clearly labeled with real life items labeled on each page. I bought it for my 5 year d daughter who was born in Russia and has Russian language classes in the USA. The phonetics are good for this mom with limited Russian language experience.
